September 11, 2001 is a day that we will never forget.

Today, we stand in solemn remembrance of the thousands of innocent lives lost and honor the heroism of the first responders who answered the call.

On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed by the terrorism that took lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon.
 
We remember those lost and the brave first responders who answered the call. In grief and in strength, we remain one nation.

24 years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, we remember the victims, survivors & heroism of first responders and how our nation came together. We will #NeverForget the lessons & losses from that terrible event & its aftermath.

On September 11th, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who ran towards danger.

We will never forget.

There is no place for this violence in our political discourse.

On behalf of the RIDP, we send our deepest condolences to the Kirk family.

Today, we celebrate the 160th Anniversary of Juneteenth National Freedom Day.

On June 19th, 1865, years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. 

Juneteeth commemorates that long-delayed justice and reminds us that we must continue to push forward in the fight for freedom and equality for all.

Juneteenth is a powerful testament to the resilience of Black Americans.

While we celebrate the fight for freedom and justice, today also serves as a reminder that our work is far from over.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 that the Emancipation Proclamation was fully recognized across the nation. RI first commemorated the day as a State holiday in 2024. Today, we recognize and honor Juneteenth, remembering this important day in American history.

#Juneteenth is a day for celebration & reflection, action & unity. 160 years ago, America broke the shackles of slavery. Each of us have a responsibility to recognize the struggle for freedom & recommit to our shared values of equality, liberty & justice for all.
