Black skimmers are some of the most fun birds to watch and it's bullshit like this they usually do it as remote from people as possible.

Hundreds of Mothballs Spread on Florida Beach, Wildlife Officials Say

Man, what isn’t wrong with people?

“A state wildlife officer told The Tampa Bay Times that he thought the mothballs had been spread on the beach to keep black skimmers, a protected bird species, from nesting there.”

Black skimmers are splendid birds

I think I remember a primary school classmate running into some trouble over a small brush fire started by a thermite mixture test...

They went on to become a very good engineer and well rounded person. 😊

Yeah, matters of aviation safety come to mind first.

And then, suppose you injure or kill someone with lightning you brought down intentionally? :/

We had planned to do it remotely enough that it wouldn't have posed much risk to property but looking back certainly could've been cows or aircraft. 😬

I love seeing work some DIY rocket folks are sharing. Like Joe Barnard(sp?) - wonderfully entertaining and amazing work. :D

When I was younger I was obsessed for a while with the rocket triggered lightning lab in North FL.
I wanted to do that but imagine there *must* be some regulations to follow?

Yup.
Worst I've ever seen. The other discs is was with all look fine, just a few scratches.

I vaguely recall seeing a video the other day of a woman talking about many laser disc videos being notorious for rotting in a similar fashion sue to poor QC by some manufacturers.

I think I did a few as a kid. I definitely remember putting a lot of effort into a P51 and hanging it from my ceiling.

Model rockets were cheaper, easier and much more dangerous/fun. :)

But we shouldn't have gone on trying to make our own fuel for any.
It was cheaper but could have been costly. 😬

CD initialed by my father, marking it as his sometime in the mid 1990s - but the disc has suffered some sort of rot, oxidative perhaps, visibly destroying any hope for readily useful data on the disc.

Yup.
Read some credible info about their monied people being deep into some ugly business.
A lot of which probably should've seen more legal consequences. :|

Their stores represent quite long running exploitation and now AI-slop entering our physical spaces.

Many kid's Sci-toys absent now, too. 😩

I should probably build this kit I impulse bought last winter.

But even as I'm walking distance to a Hobby Lobby I'm definitely driving out to any local hobby shop for paints, brushes and adhesives.

Even if the Hobby Lobby did keep a useful stock it's generally a place full of frustrated people.🫤

Demolition-by-neglect is not good stewardship. For decades, SPR has not maintained the towers at the park and has not committed to doing so in the future. SDCI claims that it only recently became aware of the “hazard” of the appurtenances. The timing of the hazard correction order is suspicious. A review of the timeline of how this all went down reveals a collaboration (we are being generous with that word) between the two departments (and maybe among other City departments) behind closed doors to plan how to get rid of a “problem” and circumvent an established process for approving changes to a landmark.

Demolition by neglect is actually how we do a lot of civil infra, we just call it “abandoned in place” because actual demo work is expensive and people don’t like hearing that’s why rates went up

I love seeing them. Where I grew up it was common to see them out grazing in the front yard. 😄

This one pictured is in a good spot too - inside a large and secured plot of land around a water treatment facility.

I spotted on my way home from work today and had to stop for a few pictures.

Thanks! This is so important, and Trump is totally ignorant of it.

➡️ The main point stressed to us was that the military exists primarily to prevent war, not win war.

It's partly military propaganda, but also real. It's a lot cheaper to prevent war than to win it.

I have a post on this in mind.

Working through a definite learning curve here, I can't see any of my neighbors who said hello earlier and unsure about the solution. heh
All part of the fun.

It's been several years now since he has worn the muzzle at all.
Eventually he seemed to get past whatever his train of thought to agression was.

He isn't so snuggly as I like Bostons to be but he is very good now and tolerates
being man handled to rub his belly or scratch his ears.

A fine pup. 😊

So worn carefully the muzzle seemed to require very little training.

He let us put it on without any struggle - seemed a little annoyed to be wearing it at first but in short order returned to the business of playing with any dogs, kids or other house guests despite his clunky headwear. 😊

We found his fear-agression was pretty much exclusively aimed toward blue collar looking white men.

Luckily it seems he has always loved other dogs and children but we spent a good number of years taking no chances just in case.
Because if he got scared that boy would bite *hard* and take flight. 😬

Post image

We bought him one designed for the shorter snouted dogs and practiced at first letting his favorite person here apply it and leash walk him some while wearing it.

He didn't seem to mind it so if children were visiting here Titan would wear it out of an abundance of caution, also at public events. 😄
