Big changes coming to the NIH landscape!π§¬
NIH is streamlining its grant process.
By reducing the number of highly specialized announcements, NIH is shifting the focus back to broad, investigator-initiated science. This means more room for innovative ideas!

While Iβm here in my annual week of re-engaging w/social media, maybe take a second and sign the petition to reinstate Mel Curth at OU, the grad TA who failed the OU student for not doing the assignment. #academicintegrity #highereducation #OU #reinstateMelCurth

Public comments have been opened back up!
Research with animals is critical for providing evidence-based knowledge in the pursuit of human health. Broadly reducing research projects with animals threatens public health and will greatly stall the development of new therapeutics for diseases!

I have always wondered why there is not a bigger focus on modeling this in basic science, clearly never did anything about it, but really pumped to see you guys highlighting the importance of this!

So cool!!!! Congrats!!!!
Tenure looks especially good on badass lady scientists π«Ά
So incredibly heartbreaking. She was an amazing scientist, mentor to so many, partner, partner and person. My heart has been heavy for her family and colleagues. π
She really nailed it. We paused our Alcohol Research Center meeting to watch as a group. Super proud of her πππ

π―. I am just mystified how using the trainees diversity status to defund them is legal when there is an equivalent mechanism for non-diverse applicants. Would love some lawyers to chime in here #laborlaw #discrimination #breachofcontract #legalhelp
Get ready to FOIA NIH. Make them show their cards: the funded diversity Fs were in line or exceeded the scores of regular funded nondiversity funded Fs. So then not merit based, just blatant discrimination. Diversity is not a score-able criteria, just differentiates where the money comes from. π€¬

Dear science community, an amazing grad student with @drjrink.bsky.social and I lost her belongings in an apartment fire this morning. She and her dog are safe but needs your help. Please consider donating

Just one day without mass chaos would be nice.
Takes all of 5 seconds!
This is beyond embarrassing. π³
I just donβt understand how. But no one seems to even be trying to stop him. How tf did we get here?!?!?
This will continue to be postponed and livelihoods and scientific advancements are going suffer the consequences. You can nay say, but you said calm down and wait til Feb 1, now thatβs been pushed back further. You donβt know because you arenβt in it and doesnβt affect you.
Decisions on ALL funding have been further paused. If some uneducated trump minion decides a grant is βnot in line with administration prioritiesβ in any way they can cancel current awards and block review of pending. Itβs not just DEI but those are their priorities.
