For me, but I am biased, Michelle Bachelet was the clear winner in this round, although she was nervous at the beginning, she gave the right answers, she has the experience in the UN cosmos, while Grossi always came back tongue leading the IAEA, which is basically the only experience he’s got, ➡️

@passblue.bsky.social about Macky Sall
ImhO, France is not really backing his candidacy, France is one of the P5 backing the pledge for a woman SG and that’s a criterion, Sall evidently doesn’t meet. After he went into “exile”, it seems more like a desperate attempt to regain some importance
Boko Haram is holding 400+ women and children kidnapped from Ngoshe in Borno State and has given Nigeria 72 hours to pay about £2.7 million in ransom, threatening to execute them if the government refuses.

She is awful and should be fired but man that is three women out of the Cabinet and not a single guy
Screenshot of a tweet by NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman (@astro_reid) describing filming an "Earthset" from space, comparing it to watching a sunset at the beach from "the most foreign seat in the cosmos." He notes he captured a cell phone video while fellow astronaut Christina Koch (@Astro_Christina) used a Nikon with a 400mm lens for professional shots, with Vic Glover (@AstroVicGlover) and Jeremy Hansen (@Astro_Jeremy) watching from window 3.
Continuation of Reid Wiseman's tweet, describing how he used an iPhone with 8x zoom to capture Earth rising over the Moon's surface through the docking hatch window, noting the view is uncropped and uncut and comparable to what the human eye would see. The image shows Earth as a small bright crescent peeking over the dark, cratered lunar surface against the blackness of space.
The most amazing video ever taken on an iPhone.
Trump's Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned today. She and her husband have both been accused of sexually harassing her staffers, drinking on the job and she had an affair with her security team. The woman charged with protecting American workers treated workers like crap.
Pope Leo lamented during an event in Angola on Monday that many people in the world were being "exploited by authoritarians and defrauded by the rich", the latest example of a forceful new speaking style he has adopted on his Africa tour.

New, from me: Take the Palantir manifesto seriously, if not literally.
It reveals that our tech philosopher kings want public money, but without public accountability. This creates a dilemma for governments unaligned with its techno-fascist vision. 🧵

the pope is constantly dropping bars as of late.
so oil is going to Russia, US ally/partner?
doesn't make sense
It's been so interesting to watch this unfold. Barnes & Noble and other big book chains shut indies down in the the 1990s (and on) and then Amazon came along and ate up all the book market share. Now people tired of big corporations are creating demand for more indies
I don’t think we talk nearly enough about the fact that corporations like Amazon, don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay nothing for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business.
WE Pay for
"volunteers w/little funding, & hardly any recognition, have reached places the UN cannot.They are not waiting for permission..They are simply doing what the Sudanese have always done: showing up for one another. This is the story the world fails to see — our stubborn refusal to surrender to misery"
