Apple Motion is used to make nearly all the effects, titles, generators and transitions in Final Cut Pro, both built-in and those made by others.
They can be made responsive to the aspect ratio of the timeline they are used in. Here’s how:

My question for Mr. Diabaté: ‘How rare must an experience be for it to remain a luxury?’
What will happen to the birth rate 9 months later?

I had to do the same for the BBC News Persian service a few years ago.
Having to make a pixel perfect recreation meant I got to know the After Effects to Premiere template workflow very well.
Signs of stagnation in post production:
1. App monocultures mean lack of competitors driving innovation.
ProTools for sound
After Effects for compositing and motion graphics
Premiere for editing
2. Post in 2025 wouldn’t be surprising to people from 2010.

How soon until Apple includes Apple Create?
For humans and AI agents.
Let me tell you a story (before the ship explodes):
An upside that is not worth the downsides.
An abstraction that could be countered with role-based effects. If Apple wanted to seem to care.
Seeing Apple market Resolve as the Apple Immersive Video app for Apple Vision Pro is frustrating for me as someone that sees track-based NLEs as quaint.
Seeing demoing how you need to use a Fusion patch to carry out simple compositing tasks for AIV gives me hope for Final Cut and Motion.
What a pity.
In 2017 was the first editing app that transcribed what you said and showed the words in sync with your footage on screen.
Two years later CapCut included the same feature in China, in 2020 for US users.
Shooting 9 pages/23 shots/15 setups tomorrow. With a crew of 1. And new lights & camera we’ve never used. And also I don’t know any of the lines. And I don’t like what I wrote. It’s ineloquent and unfunny. Let’s do this!

Random idea while watching Nick Folk: If your kicker is over 40 years old, field goals should be worth 4 points
Over 45? 5 points
Over 50? 8 points

Apple announces Final Cut Camera 2.0 and mentions…
“upcoming releases of Final Cut Pro 11.2 and Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.3, editors gain control over iPhone ProRes RAW footage, with direct adjustments for exposure, color temperature, tint, and demosaicing.”

This feature of Apple Motion has amazed my clients at the BBC for years. It has made me seem clever.
For graphics that work in any aspect ratio (100:1 to 100:1 and beyond) I only need to include a maximum of 4 Display Aspect Ratio snapshots.

Final Cut Pro creative summit website message: “Sometimes the best projects need a little more time in the edit bay. That’s why we’re remastering the Final Cut Pro Creative Summit for its new Spring 2026 release. We’re using this extra time to go frame-by-frame, adding new content, polishing every session, and ensuring the final export is our most inspiring event ever. The first look at our new timeline drops this December!”
Aww, man… no 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼 Creative Summit for 2025 😭 I was already pre-approved by my work to go.
The good news is it’s still happening in the spring, instead. Unfortunately that’s my busiest time and could prevent me from attending. Damn it.

Oh yes.
Now waiting for the next Sci-Fi project to bring it to use.
Watching the first episode of #AlienEarth inspired me to make a free Final Cut Pro title template that emulates the MU-TH-UR chat user interface, and also on-screen titles.

Inventing the Future John Buck
The reaction to FCPX always felt like entitled rage. 12 years of 32-bit FCP that birthed millions of businesses (including me). Bank it, upgrade, move on. I know Jobs spoke to Randy Ubillos (Premiere & FCP/KeyGrip) about the "Vertigo" aka FCPX launch and they agreed. 64-bit or nothing. @gruber.foo

The Media Composer Transcript Tool gets you to a timeline quickly.
Pity you have to muck about with track targeting and edge selection while considering clip collisions and what clips are on what tracks.
Editors wasting brain space supporting technical implementation instead of feeling the story.
