"He name drops 'Marco,' 'Kash' and other friends in senior roles: 'They ask me as I bump into them in the West Wing: Have you killed more jihadis today?'
...His team’s custom lanyards are printed with 'WWFY & WWKY' in honor of a Trump line: 'We will find you and we will kill you.'"

Remember a few months back when some of you were cheering the Philly sheriff for saying she'd stand up to ICE?
The one place the sheriff can make a difference is protecting people at the courts. And yet...
A year ago, Gorka's counterterrorism strategy was “imminent.” In July, Oct., Jan., he was “on the cusp” of unveiling it. Nada.
If it is released, experts expect it'll have few details on how to combat threats, given Trump's gutting of national security agencies.

"About three or four times a month, I rely on ride-share to get home after work events. I also use it roughly once a week when other commitments keep me out late"
So... $7-8 over the course of a month? That's like half a sandwich.
“Both of these victims have free will,” [the psychics' lawyer] said. “When a psychic promises their services, it’s a service nonetheless.”
I mean, she's got a point. It's a bad point, but a point nonetheless.

"Nearly two dozen were held in custody for more than 20 days...Teens who were detained alone were sent to Christian youth shelters in Michigan, which made it hard for their families to find them. And nearly half of the children detained have since left the country." sahanjournal.com/immigration/...
so here’s the thing: the entire purpose for medicare/medicaid was to “clean up the risk pool” by removing the higher-cost individuals (the elderly/disabled) off of private insurance. but I doubt that’s what rfk intends.
It’s a sign of how bumblefuck chaotic this admin is that Seb fucking Gorka’s presence has mostly passed beneath the collective radar
NEW: Amid Trump’s war in Iran and an exodus of intelligence staffers, Sebastian Gorka has asserted that a blueprint for fighting terror threats is “imminent” — but has not released it. Iranian threats have refocused attention on the lack of a doctrine.
"Mr. Trump, whose instinct for crowd work and note-perfect timing have drawn comparisons to the insult comic Don Rickles, will almost certainly take a few potshots"!
NYT editors must sit around thinking about how to troll people, right? They're not this bad at their jobs, right?
If AI is just as good at picking draft picks as the human experts, isn't that more an indictment of the experts than it is an asset in AI's favor?
things are going great in the BOP as always, i see!!
True. My guess is that you'll find the most objectionable folks in the non-overlapping sectors: potheads who swear off alcohol and beer-lovers who think of weed as tantamount to PCP.
By that same token, I'd almost rather have to listen to a lecture about visible THC crystals than be called into another anonymous suburban garage to test yet another fetid homebrew IPA
Good point. I don't need to marvel at your secret, hand-carved cedar stash box for the fruity edibles you bought at the corner weed shop.
More annoying: the friend who has made smoking pot their defining personality trait or the friend who has made craft beer their defining personality trait?
I will die on the hill that U.S. culture suffered a grievous and potentially mortal injury when we retired the concept of "selling out"
I've found that insomnia is, alas, recession- and inflation-proof. If anything it only becomes more readily available and physically taxing.
I prefer Michael Mann's sprawling LA mummy epic HEAT:
Their look alone reeks of "evil opposing team in a hockey movie that couldn't get the rights to use NHL logos and names"
I don't know how, but this is all Don Mattingly's fault. No other player/coach in baseball has been so consistently close to greatness but so doomed to never win when it counts.
Posted this as a brain fart on Friday. Now thinking I'd definitely apply.
I'm just tuning in. Why is painter out of the game already?
When my doctor chides me for the cholesterol spike resulting from the last few months of my apocalyptic dread diet, I'll simply counter by pointing out that my cholesterol is in fact on the rebound.
Kruk being stuck with the Peacock crew tonight is making the same face my dog makes when he realizes I'm not just going to the corner store and he's been left in the care of total strangers for the weekend.
There's a pathology in a certain strain of business/finance journalism that sees no problem with framing the latest surge in oil prices as a "rebound"...
New mercy rule for NBA playoffs: if you lose by more than 30 points in the first game, you're summarily eliminated and put out of your misery
In the second season of Beef on Netflix, Oscar Isaac's character references "Buy, Borrow, Die" — a tax-avoidance method used by the ultra-rich.
As part of @propublica.org's Secret IRS Files series, we put together this animation back in 2021 to explain how it works:
I think that one is especially true of any guy who would go on a dating show. They all seem to have jobs like "entrepreneur," "day trader" or "tech investor" -- all of which mean they've convinced their parents to buy a bunch of meme coins for them.
In this economy?
