Congratulations and happy retirement! What an amazing achievement, especially with Artemis II wrapped up! It’s too bad everything has gotten so toxic, but I am glad that you got to see a successful launch on your watch.
Now, go enjoy some of that much deserved rest & projects time you’ve earned!

Yep. A friend works in the translation team within GoC and they’re so fucked. And that was before this video.

NOW: B52 bombers are literally in the air on their way to Iran and hundreds of thousands of Iranians are in the streets waving flags and surrounding bridges & power plants.
Difficult to imagine this has any precedent in modern warfare.

Regardless of whether it’s all talk, when the leader of our country expresses plainly genocidal intent, everyone has to do something.
For citizens of all political stripes, it means rejecting this madness. For Congress, it means taking action to rein him in. Now.
If someone with an arsenal of bombs and guns made a credible threat to commit mass murder, and they were obviously mentally ill, then they'd be involuntarily committed to a mental institution.
Forget impeachment. Apprehend him for his own safety and that of others.
This is the literal LEAST you can do. GO CALL.
GO.
CALL.
@5calls.org tells you who to call and has scripts ready if you dont know what to say! And you can add more if you have more to say!
The system is broken and unfair but if we have to exist in it in the here and now, be loud about it!!
Iran understates the depth of the problem in declaring he is on “the brink of madness.” We need less sane washing, more explanation of Iran’s resilience/determination to wait us out, and increased attention to Trump’s serious mental deterioration and incapacity to make rational decisions.
So I was interviewed by @vimiller.bsky.social of the Sun Times about my work supporting the launch of Artemis II.
She wrote a very lovely article. Thanks Violet.

And our star is called the Sun in English; other planetary systems can have their own suns.
We use this convention a lot in astronomy. The Milky Way has a name but we also call it the Galaxy. We live in the Solar System; there are other solar systems out there. And we live in the Universe, but in theory there could be multiple universes.
Reminder that the moon that orbits the Earth has a name in English and that name is the Moon. There are lots of nicknames and names in other languages (Luna, for instance) but technically in English it is just the Moon. The concept of a moon is uncapitalized; our moon is the Moon.
An infographic for the Artemis II mission displays a blue orbital trajectory map connecting Earth to the Moon, accompanied by live telemetry data showing mission elapsed time, velocity, and distance.

"For the first time since 1972 during Apollo 17, human beings have left Earth orbit," announced NASA’s Lori Glaze.
It's crazy to think that no human has ever been this far from Earth since I was born, and with every passing second, the four astronauts are getting farther away. 🤯

"Experts warned that the virus could spread more easily than previous variants and even evade immunity in people previously infected or vaccinated against COVID, due to a mutation that allows it to avoid antibodies."

I wish my fellow Ontarians would remember this at election time rather than swallowing the long-disproven myth that it's progressives who are bad with money.
Ford is hiding his controversial changes to freedom of information laws to exempt the premier & cabinet ministers from disclosure, is included in his budget bill! 🤬
His MPPs will all have to vote with the budget bill, and thus the FOI changes! What a horrible, sneaky, corrupt government!
