It will be extremely interesting to see what institutions like Fenway Health and NYU Langone do now. The ostensible reason for their ending of youth gender care is now gone - will they resume care for all the trans kids they abandoned?
also worth remembering that ending a Lyme disease (borreliosis) vaccine was one of the first victories of the American anti-vaccination movement that's since captured the federal government.
A phenomenal story from @theresagaff.bsky.social about how access to gender-affirming care for adults, like with kids, is shrinking.

Right now where you live healthcare for trans kids is either being made literally illegal by your state or made functionally illegal by the unlawful threats of the federal government and a care infrastructure glad to sacrifice trans kids on the altar of appeasement.

"The rise of extreme wealth is one of the clearest signs of this imbalance. In 1987, billionaires held wealth equal to 3% of global GDP. Today this tiny elite, just 0.0001% of the world population, owns the equivalent of *16%* of world GDP in wealth."
Watching the Dems try to use Zohran's "affordability" message without concrete plans like a rent freeze is going to make for a very painful couple of months
New: 150 unionized ProPublica workers are on strike TODAY over AI, layoff protections, wages, and more.
They're asking readers to not visit ProPublica or engage with content on other platforms. It's the first work stoppage of its kind at the newsroom.

happy 17776 day everyone
I understand that most of us
don't have the means to personally stop what's happening and there are many domestic victims of the US regime, but there's something very grim and galling about seeing Americans post "we must find moments of joy" every time our government murders children.

TDoV 🧵: trans visibility is a double-edged sword due to the Unmarked/Marked mindset: trans ppl face undue attention & scrutiny b/c we're marked. but we also face invisibility b/c ppl typically presume that every person they meet belongs to the unmarked majority (aka, cis)... youtu.be/xiU-G0mTYVY
It's Trans Day of Visibility, so we've made our special series about being trans on the internet completely free to read for everyone, forever.

It's Trans Day of Visibility and I wrote about how visibility without protection is a trap, and it often seems like the loudest calls for us to be visible are coming from those who have done nothing to protect us.

We've just unlocked our Trans Cinema issue from 2023, guest edited by poet Spencer Williams. It is now (and forever!) entirely free.
lately i've been obsessed with the photographs of alison laing, which span from 1956 to the early 2000s

In recent days, AMA communications to the New York Times have requested a correction on their part to reflect the actual language the AMA used in response to their inquiry. Additionally, a letter to the editor has been submitted requesting a public correction—this was neither a policy change nor was it an endorsement of a position taken by another medical society. In addition, during Congressional testimony in mid-March, I had the opportunity to set the record straight stating to the Subcommittee on Health of the House Energy and Commerce Committee that there has been no change in AMA policy with respect to access to and provision of gender-affirming care. This will appear in the Congressional Record.
The American Medical Association directly responds to New York Times coverage mischaracterizing their posiiton on gender affirming care for trans young people.

This piece is frustrating. The bulk of it is spent on the debate around licensing with a brief mention at the end of a major issue: Many older drivers live in areas without transportation options. Stricter licensing and more road tests are needed, but we also need to address car dependency.
