I think the biggest joke in NHL officiating is how they will never forget. Once a player has a reputation they actually call the game around it. Think Gallagher early in his career, Michael Bunting, Alex Burrows. There is literal evidence of an NHL referee targeting a player after looking bad

I’d favour Owen Beck I think. Lots of playoff experience, NHL experience, defensively responsible, and can fill in for Newhook who has struggled in faceoffs, and is some youthful energy.

But playoffs are all about who can hit harder, more, and get away with the most, so maybe not the best idea.
