Yep. In fact, the real failing of students was when we stopped requiring them to regularly search a library catalogue for their reading and instead produced lists with hyperlinks that students simply had to click. As soon as they have to go off list, they’re lost.

Can anyone explain to me what the Blue Labour justification for this is? Who out there will vote Labour because Mahmood prevented a Sudanese Chevening Scholar? And to be honest, why won’t the PM simply overrule her?

Jervis Forum Roundtable 17-27 on Kirby and Shepherd, Governing the Feminist Peace Paul Kirby and Laura J. Shepherd’s Governing the Feminist Peace is an engagement with, and evaluation of, the complexities of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda 25 years into its tenure by two scholars who have been at the forefront of its study over much of that time. It argues that previous research on WPS has several shortcomings that get in the way of scholars having a full picture of the agenda’s complexities.

So while preparing slides was once again been reminded of this little mystery....Huge gender gaps in support for 2 parties - Reform and Greens. Both genders are more likely to support the Greens, and gender gap in Green support is larger. But all the discussion focuses on young men & Reform

Aubade Not in remorse —The good not done, the love not given, time Torn off unused—nor wretchedly because An only life can take so long to climb Clear of its wrong beginnings, and may never; But at the total...

Philip Larkin started writing ‘Aubade’ in 1974, & finished it in 1977 after his mother’s death. It was published in the TLS on 23rd December, apparently ruining a number of people’s Christmases. Larkin, terrified of death all his life, died on this day 1985.

I’ve written a piece on the curious lack of media and political interest in the issues faced by our national @britishlibrary.bsky.social. This is strange given we live in a world where ideas, knowledge and research are a long-term source of innovation and insight
