Fanfare for the Common Man is the perfect start to a working day, has filled me with purpose and confidence (no mean feat!) Might have to make it part of my daily morning ritual. Would it be blasphemous / cheesy / downright naff to make it my alarm ringtone?

‘It’s a big loss’: what happens when a beautiful village loses its bus route? Mousehole in Cornwall once had a butcher, post office and general store. Now it doesn’t even have an ATM – and one of its crucial bus services has been cut. Can residents save this vital resource?

"Buses aren’t a statutory entitlement" - oof, as a non-driver, living in a rural area, this hit hard. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

UBI is not free money, but a reduction in paperwork.

Up to 40% of people entitled to social benefits today aren't getting any because they have conditions preventing them from navigating the bureaucratic process. UBI removes that hurdle.

UBI isn't about the money, it's about being fair.

Feminist organizations and academic communities stand together for an inclusive feminism – Inkluderende feminisme Norwegian version On Trans Day of Remembrance in 2025, twenty-five Norwegian/Nordic feminist organizations, political parties, and academic communities came together to issue a consensus statement in ...

Last year, nearly 30 feminist organizations & feminist studies academic communities from the Nordic countries came together to issue a statement in support of an inclusive feminism – and called for confronting transphobia.

We were, in part, inspired by NION's statement.

We need to overwhelm the BBC with complaints about this. This is the most egregious breach of their own impartiality guidelines I can remember. They’re no longer even trying to hide it.

The thing is there are 2 very different things that get discussed regarding social distancing/lock downs, and a lot of us are still angry about how the one form spat on the other. 1/

Banned from the radio after Princess Diana died: how Levellers made What a Beautiful Day ‘Its release seemed timely as the Tories had just left office. But then Diana died and all cheerful songs were taken straight off the radio. Boom! It disappeared’

When I talk to people my age, we’re like: “We weren’t prepared for this. We thought things would improve.” Not: “Oh my God, the world is run by Satan’s occult members.” www.theguardian.com/music/2026/a... yep pretty much

I live on the main road into town, door onto the street, work from home, can only conclude that DPD couriers are not using GPS!!

2 days ago 3 0 0 0

Yes! I never get those Evri ransome notes, that made me laugh - but I do appreciate they must be maddening. My bugbear is the DPD email saying 'we knocked but you weren't in" with a photo of someone else's front door (sometimes in another town!)

Going to go out on a limb here and say better Evri than dpd- round my way at least, the couriers are local folk and lovely people, whereas dpd deliveries are by couriers from out of the area & under pressure & rarely if ever deliver to the correct address

Meet James Bembridge, the Reform candidate for Westminster in next month’s local elections.

As well as this tweet, Temu Lex Luthor here, has also been quoted as saying "Most NHS nurses look like they're eating food banks out of business."

Don’t let him get his deposit back.

Reform UK’s Richard Tice allegedly failed to pay £100,000 in corporation tax Deputy leader ran shell companies that reportedly did not pay tax on profits from 2020 to 2022, during which time his firm donated £1.1m to party

Angela Rayner's housing tax story has hounded her for months now.

Meanwhile, this? There's a good chance no one will mention it again after next week.

Because the "patriotic" far-right never have to reckon with their rampant corruption and tax-dodging.
