Just AWS, deploying with Kamal, provisioned with TF. It’s been…interesting.
Leaning on the LLMs made TF possible and only then because I have enough AWS experience.
Just overprovisioning which is still cheaper than Heroku.
We miss Judoscale though 🥲

Customers: we need newer gen instances and better size options!
Heroku: we re-wrote our CLI again!
🙄
We completed our move off and just from using newer instances our p50 response time cut in half.
Avo Toast - in this economy??
Just scaled the last dyno of our rails app to 0. Might write up a thread but we're now running on AWS, provisioned with #OpenTofu, deploying with #kamal. Gradually moved traffic a via CloudFlare load balancer over the last week and so far so good. AMA.
You either die a hero, or you live long enough to get purchased by salesforce, be neglected for years, try to squeeze your customers for enterprise contracts, give them false hope of a new platform only to pull the rug and declare maintenance mode. RIP #heroku

A cute, glowing ruby gem with a smiling face, rendered in a pink-purple neon style on a vibrant background. It represents the Ruby language with a Charm-inspired, glamorous CLI aesthetic.
Alongside the Ruby 4.0 release last week, I published charm-ruby over Christmas, bringing @charm.land's excellent terminal UI libraries to Ruby.
A full TUI framework, reusable components, styled output, forms, markdown rendering, spinners, charts, and a lot more!

We do this at Thanksgiving instead of Turkey now, everyone likes it better. You puttin those birds on thrones?
Similar to the DB in that it's on the border of Rails - I guess it's another section of the data layer.
Been thinking about what if we cold log all the traces to db or object storage (cheap!) and index them for searching with clickhouse or whatever. solid_metrics? 🤔
Yes, and there are similar gaps for smaller companies e.g. observability was a big topic at @xoruby.com in Portland - you care about the customer experience but don't have thousands a month to throw at an APM. Add sampling and risk missing the traces you care about I guess?
Thing about Arsenal, they always try to walk it in

I deal with this problem quite a bit - one thing I think would be handy is a way to display stale cache results while new cache contents generate in the backend 🤔
I think nearly identical for me with some Eclipse and EMacs in there for my college classes 🫠
Keep wanting to use Zed but Cursor’s LLM autocomplete is noticeably better. Probably skill issue but 🤷
I still love haml ♥️
