I'm on squarespace and have a bunch of custom HTML built in. For me, I went through the robots.txt and used the in-platform tools the best I could.

Blocking all the AI crawlers from my personal website has been a godsend, but also allowing myself to become more creatively unhinged has been welcome too π
It's had the opposite effect on me (which is very much still an effect, don't get me wrong); I've made myself try to sound less and less like an AI, including trying not to use "It's not X it's Y," which sucks because It's not X It's Y is great. (The em dash stays though.)

I donβt understand why Lucifer is fondling that doctor.
The issue is systemic. I feel worst for artists who don't have the resources to compete in a rigged field.
But the public, who got used to not paying for music and have thoroughly devalued it and the journalists around it?
If you got exposed by algorithmic marketing, you were already searching.
It's an open secret how much it still happens to get songs put on.
Radio still does it, streaming practically does it openly.
So while I'm annoyed by the public, I'm more annoyed with journalists who don't push for that sort of enforcement and reform, and the institutions failing all the way.
Because that's the thing you're not supposed to say. Wired can call it a "psy-op" - which is asinine - but the only reason they could is because the public engage with low effort bullshit.
Should that sort of grey water marketing be regulated, absolutely.
Just like they regulate payola... Right?
What has been glossed over about the whole Chaotic Good situation is that a lot of their "algorithmic engagement"... sucked.
Seriously, it was volume over quality. Just enough to get something trending and then the rest came from the audience getting served what they already were looking to see.
Spectrum Pulse Video Thumbnail featuring Ella Langley's 'Dandelion' with the text 'Album Review' in quotations.
Not gonna say this is the final word on why Ella Langley has been so huge this year... but I had a lot to say on this one, and I'm real proud of it.

BLUESKY IS A WEBSITE THAT TURNS (post by jay.bsky.team claiming that bluesky is made with AI) INTO (picture of bluesky not working)
I think Two And A Half Men had at least three of those episodes.
But I think I stand by the absolute worst of them being How I Met Your Mother in the Quinn / Barney arc. Man, that show got conservative at its worst moments.
BREAKING: A jury has found Live Nation and Ticketmaster to be an illegal monopoly that overcharges fans.
After the federal government settled the case, 34 states kept pursuing the giant ticket and concert company.
Now, the states have won.
Glad I made a video around this subject :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=9huJ...
I think between everything J. Cole, the Pitchfork / Danny L Harle controversy, and everything about that Jenkins article on country, I'm tapped out on stupid discourse these first two quarters.
A little late, but here we are: new episode of Billboard BREAKDOWN - enjoy! youtu.be/wgkOCm8EYWo
Ugh... you know, just ugh, let's get this over with.
New episode of BIllboard BREAKDOWN. Kanye West album bomb. Enjoy? youtu.be/kp6rNmeiXs8
I get Pat Boone vibes from Malcolm Todd.
Especially if you know how he initially marketed himself as making "Steve Lacy" songs, it's just... ick.

a parade of patriot scandals but is it the government or the football team
I wish I couldn't fathom the simultaneous lack of decency or political acumen to pick a public fight with the Pope a week after Easter.
I WISH.
Sometimes I see people who don't otherwise talk about music on the timelines reference the music they think are going to be used in political rallies, and then I get really sad.
But then I remember that Hilary Clinton unironically used Rachel Platten's 'Fight Song' and I just get ANGRY.
Not quite - both album reviews are actually both available on my Discord right now for Patrons as we speak :)

This one was a lot of fun to put together, and lets me talk about musical theatre at length, which is always a hoot.
Live for Patrons and YouTube Members early, "RAYE, 'THIS MUSIC MIGHT CONTAIN HOPE', and Why Music Critics Don't Review Musical Theater" - enjoy!
It's annoying that even with 'Talk To Me' on the new Robyn album, I wind up getting more out of the obvious Robyn knockoff 'OLD FLING$' by Slayyyter.
Both songs are great, but...
Machine Gun Kelly was a better standard bearer for pop punk in the early 2020s than Olivia Rodrigo.
(There are layers to this one, y'all)
I regret to inform everyone that the algorithm on the other site has gotten markedly worse.
Not enough people heard her fantastic album from last year and I'm still mad about that youtu.be/Oo3GGyMUR70?...
