The wonderful youtuber Civik just released an in depth review of Discard All Hope: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RcL... Give it a look, he usually covers the #FromSoft action-card game Lost Kingdoms, so he's got a lot of experience with this niche! #gamedev #indiegame #review #demo

I feel this in my BONES. After a recent play test I realized I wasn't communicating like 90% of what was happening in my game. Currently switching gears over to redesigning the entire HUD lol
Everyone needs to go check out Discard All Hope by the way. Super unique real time card based ARPG. I've certainly clocked a lot of hours in it :D
Looking Great!!
Looks like Dante's 9 can now also be placed on this list
There's also the game I'm working on. But I can't say much about that one yet ;)
two BIG examples I can think
-one step from Eden
Personally I think is the progenitor of the genre given how it sets up the tentpole desogn elements of the action deck builder pretty much to a T
-Moon watch
Survivor like action deck builder that uses superhots enemy's move when you do mechanic
Honestly seems like a solid amount right now :D
Oh Hell yeah! I gotta boot that demo back up
Hell ya we got summons in Discard All Hope (they actually have been there for a while but they didn't scale and kinda sucked, now they do scale and don't suck in the demo!) #gamedev #solodev #indiegame #horror #rpg
Dude this looks great!
Demo update is live on Steam as part of #ScreamFest2025! You think you got what it takes to fight the Corrupted Inquisitor? Rare spell variants await, but only if you can take him on! DEMO LINK IN PROFILE #indiegame #gamedev #steam #actionRPG #horror #spooky
Seen too many examples of players in the demo forgetting they can rotate the camera and getting stuck at this exact point. Blunt solution? Just show the camera rotating at the exact location most get stuck. Subtlety is for cowards! #indiegame #gamedev #solodev #indiedev
*slow clap* I love itπ₯π
If you've been waiting on trying out the Discard All Hope demo, nows the time to give it a shot! Just updated with a massively improved tutorial that will have you blasting eldritch magic like a pro in no time! store.steampowered.com/app/4020390/... #indiegame #solodev #action #rpg #horror #indiedev
That sounds like a very complex game
All of you seriously need to check this demo out. It's some really awesome design work mixed with a really cool aesthetic and setting. π₯
Really depends on the context and size of the numbers. I usually default to health bars (slider?) but generally the health pools I encounter are somewhere in the hundreds or thousands so its a bit easier to visualize.
Looks correct to me
Don't listen to him we eat people here.
jk Welcome!
Oh I feel this image so hard lol
Of the jams that I participated in it always felt like the idea was a way for Devs to just get out of their head and find ways to work past analysis paralysis. At least that was my experience.
Save systems are usually pretty handy, yeah
UV mapping for 7 hours straight got my eyes like:
Aww, the "test it..cles" button is gone... π
Lol, been there. Hang in there!
Dude, Shader programmers are just on another level π€―
That sentiment below about making it exist first is just honestly so important.
