Never seen this one before. Wonderful opening. Cautiously optimistic.

Along with Before Sunset, the reason Linklater is the exceedingly exceptional director who directed the best movie of the year two years in a row.

California Crime + 4/20 = Lebowski

California crime wave continues.
It's annoying how there's always a backlash against Best Picture winners. Sometimes they're great!!

LA noir continues with Tarantino's second best (after Pulp Fiction).
If it isn't obvious how I'm going to ultimately transition from California crime to 4/20, I've added a clue to the TV stand/dresser.

LA Confidential.
It's pretty good.
"But nothing too original because, hey, this is Hollywood."

Now watching a perfect movie as LA noir day continues.

So now I have to do a whole California noir night.
Under the Silver Lake should come with a warning.
"Looking just as she swore she would never look," is an all-time noir blonde enters line.
By PTA.

Hooray for Hollywood 🎵
In many ways, The Long Goodbye is Altman's most daring picture and Gould's most difficult and best performance.
Also, Schwarzenegger's best movie.

Under the Silver Lake.
Never seen this before. After Silence, I am in the mood for more Andrew Garfield.

A little Saturday morning Marilyn Monroe in CinemaScope never hurt anyone.

Silence.
Scorsese's most Kurosawa. A gorgeous, contemplative, challenging, terrifying masterpiece.
I would love to see this on the big screen again.

This is true. But you should watch Citizen Kane and read 1984 though.
At least so long as there's a delta between status quo and truth.
And even after that cause it's awesome.
Happy Friday, #FilmSky📽️
In some ways, this episode of Columbo is the best script Spielberg ever directed.
#FilmSky📽️
In many ways, the precise opposite of the fascistic and ideologically bankrupt Mission:Impossible movies.
Also, you know, arguably the funniest movie of all-time.

Final Mission Impossible. Never seen this one before.
Hopes aren't high. I don't see how they can land this plane considering they exhausted the story and closed it last movie. But it seems from the promotion that Cruise just climbs on the plane instead, which could be cool. Let's see.

They spent like half a billion to film this nonsense and then they called it Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Seriously, look it up, they actually called it that.
I think about that a lot.
But, man, can nonsense be fun.

I'm so confused, I've been told (a few million times, in fact) that politicians who go on Joe Rogan's podcast become impossible to defeat.
Mission Impossible 6, Fallout.
The best McQuarrie-directed movie I've seen. Which is crazy considering the plot is nonsense and it's 25 minutes too long.

Investigation must still happen. A Congressman allegedly assault a staffer.
And no one with power to do anything about it noticed? How? Are there sufficient, anonymous, options to report be taken seriously? Do staffers know about these options and trust them? If not, to get there asap? Etc...
Good.
But also it would be funny to repost in three days, tbh.
M:I5
We're now in the Christopher McQuarrie era, which means the movies are properly and unapologetically Tom Cruise showcases with absurd budgets, for better and worse.
Cohesiveness is barely a consideration and runtimes really start to be padded henceforth.
#FilmSky📽️
M:I4 struggles to break free of the marriage box from the last movie, overdoes it with Hunt as superhero (true of the whole series henceforth), and is at least 20 minutes too long (ditto), but it's good and Brad Bird pulled off the second best set piece of the series in the building climb.
