A SPECIAL DAY (1977)
Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni are cast against type in this remarkable film set in Rome in 1938. It follows a housewife (Loren) and her neighbor (Mastroianni) who stay home the day Adolf Hitler visits Benito Mussolini. Highly recommended. ๐ŸŽฅ

SUPPORTING ACTOR SUNDAY
MISCHA AUER (1905-1967)
Began as a Russian actor and supporting player in dramas before one inspired bit of casting changed everything. MY MAN GODFREY, Auer turned a minor role into comic gold, earning an Oscar nomination and effectively reinventing himself overnight.๐ŸŽฅ

One of the great singer-songwriters of "in-law" country music. Wrote such great songs as ASHES BY NOW, EVEN COWGIRLS GET THE BLUES, AIN'T LIVING LONG LIKE THIS, LEAVING LOUISIANA IN THE BROAD DAYLIGHT, TILL I GAIN CONTROL AGAIN and many others.

HIS KIND OF WOMAN (1951)
This wild movie could only have come out of the Howard Hughes days of RKO. With Jane Russell, Raymond Burr and a fantastic turn by Vincent Price who steals the show. Just sit back and enjoy the madness. Highly recommended.๐ŸŽฅ

TARGETS (1968)
The first film written and directed by Peter Bogdonavich in collaboration with Polly Platt. An ultra-low budget shocker that was way ahead of its time. Starring Boris Karloff and Tim O'Kelly. Highly recommended. ๐ŸŽฅ

STOLEN FACE (1952)
An early Hammer film always holds a certain fascination, and Stolen Face is a strange entry in their pre gothic period. Directed by Terence Fisher and starring Paul Henreid and Lizabeth Scott, the film sits in the odd plastic surgery subgenre.๐ŸŽฅ
