This happened to me as well. People around me (none artists usually) will tell me I should be good enough to remember it from sight. And FOR YEARS, I did it that way and didn’t improve. When I did use reff. I found myself remembering a LOAD MORE OF DETAILS

I have one question. Does this friend “draw”? If yes, then they should begin using references. They help keep your details in tact. Without them you art “can” lack the “proper” details to make it polished. Overall References are apart of life, used in every industry.🤷🏾‍♂️
