It depends! Oda, for instance, was a bit more indulgence based. I wanted to explore and experiment with features and I like shortstacks in general.

Luka spends much of the story near home
Jas misses home, but is used to being away. He has the attitude of "home is where your family is", which means that his home simply grows larger and more full as more people come into his life
And Kaliopi lives and works on her family farm, so she is at the only home she's ever known most of the time.
Clearly as a minotaur, she's not native to rural Kentucky, but she has no memory of anywhere else.
The mortal concept of 'Home' doesn't really apply to Aerosta or Helcint, the angel and demon respectively.
Marta similarly doesn't really have a home unless you count the whole of Yellowstone Park that she migrates through.
Vanna DOES miss LA sometimes. She's a city girl at heart.
Deamoni and Jade cannot return to, nor want to ever go back to their OG homeworld.
Dawn and Noon are from the Netherworld and do not think of the place fondly.
Sam considers where she is 'home' and actively dreads returning to the arcship parked in orbit around the Earth.
