Working families file their taxes and expect that money to help our communities thrive.
Instead, Trump and de-facto president Stephen Miller are doubling down and "seeking to push tens of billions more into their mass deportation machine through another reconciliation bill."

This shows Congress can and will pass protections for immigrants even when the majority's leadership is opposed. This first of its kind successful discharge protecting immigrants' status should be an important precedent for more.
KERNEN: We'd never be able to send anyone back if you needed a judicial warrant every single time
RAND PAUL: Well, I don't think that's true. Obeying the 4th Amendment of the Constitution shouldn't be too difficult. It's something we fought the revolution over.
BREAKING: Another person has died in ICE custody, per required notification to Congress, marking 16 deaths in detention this year.
This is more DOGE-esque nonsense. I am guessing AI was involved. The people running federal agencies appear to have little idea what they're doing. They find something they don't understand and then misrepresent it instead of relying on the experts
This is EXCTLY why localities refuse to cooperate with ICE. Survivors and witnesses to crimes will not come forward if they think testifying will get them or a family member deported

55-year-old Tuan Van Bui, originally from Vietnam, “is the 46th person to die in federal custody during the second Trump administration.”

BREAKING: Medical examiner rules death of refugee in Buffalo abandoned by Border Patrol a homicide.
I'd like to just congratulate the Artemis II crew for achieving the most important human feat of the year: Getting as far away as possible from all this bullshit.
Cutting HCBS doesn't make the care needs of people with disabilities disappear. It transfers the cost--in time, labor, and lost wages--onto family members, disproportionately harming daughters and wives.
Imagine spending the first few weeks of your child’s life suing the Social Security Administration so your baby won’t be deported.
The Senate vote to not fund ICE and the Border Patrol is an important step to achieving oversight and reform to those agencies. If this becomes law, Congress should continue to work on a deal to achieve real reforms.
1/ It's not just that unilaterally paying TSA agents is illegal.
It's that Trump has now repeatedly undermined the core of the congressional power of the purse. He's not spending money that has been appropriated by law (impoundments) and he's spending money that has not been appropriated.
We are deciding right now whether we want to be a country with concentration camps and ethnic cleaning
🚨Senators are pushing to reach a deal on DHS funding by tomorrow.
The Trump admin is holding TSA funding hostage & sending ICE agents to disrupt airports nationwide. But the truth is we *can* fund TSA without giving $$ to ICE & CBP.
Tell your senators to hold the line⤵️

GOP VIEW: Dems don't get to demand ICE reforms if ICE money is being stripped out of the bill they're voting on.
DEM VIEW: CBP money remains in the bill and CBP is carrying out immigr enforcement duties (it was CBP agents who shot Alex Pretti), hence reform still needed.

TN has been poised to pass a law collecting immigration status of students also due to Miller's urging. It's a menace
This is gross even by contemporary (R)/Christian standards.
One Big Bad Brutality After Another
The Senate can just fund the TSA and Coast Guard and keep negotiating on finding a deal that holds ICE and CBP accountable, while maintaining the current limited oversight over those agencies.
Very much hoping that Democrats in the Senate do not buy into this latest proposal.
So apparently Senate Republicans are offering a DHS funding deal. From what I understand of it, it's total garbage and should be rejected immediately.
CBP would be funded fully and ICE would still get $. With no actual policy changes. And then they would give ICE more $ through reconciliation.
It's got to be infuriating for TSA agents for the White House to directly refuse to fund their agency and instead say they're fixing the situation by sending ICE out to stand around and be intimidating
Trump: I’m going to put ICE in the airports, where they will target and arrest all the illegals, especially Somalis, because I hate the Democrats
Headlines: Trump puts ICE officers in airports to ease long lines, provide relief for weary travelers
The administration's admission that sending ICE agents to airports is threatening is admitting they know how deeply unpopular immigration enforcement personnel actually are.
If ICE agents were anything other than paramilitary troopers to be distrusted, this would be a nonissue.

Kaine says Mullin's votes against certifying 2020 election "makes him the wrong person to serve as the DHS Secretary.”
Coons says he's gotten to know him and traveled with him but "DHS needs a foundational shift"
APS option schools, while I'm sure great, really are talked about by parents (especially going into Kindergarten), like they're fleeing their neighborhood schools. And one option school in particular, despite most not really caring or knowing much about its educational philosophy.
"Perez-Jimenez is the thirteenth person to die in ICE custody this year, and the thirty-sixth person to die in detention since Donald Trump launched his sweeping immigration crackdown. He is also the youngest to die in custody since Trump resumed office."
