Dutch court sentences Eritrean migrant smuggler to 20 years A Dutch court on Tuesday sentenced Eritrean Amanuel W. to 20 years in prison in the Netherlands' largest migrant smuggling case so far. More suspects are set to appear in court later this year.

We appreciate these efforts but still have many unanswered questions. Why are Libyans and Europeans who were accomplices to these Eritrean perpetrators still unaccounted for? Shouldn’t this be a human trafficking case?

Such scenes leave me with a great deal of curiosity as I try to understand the origin of the torture methods applied in this footage. They lead to Rome; they lead to Europe. Today, those methods are being applied in Libya to harmless teenagers who are running for their lives.

Europe’s best approach to curbing the so-called “migration crisis.”

That burning structure was a tent that sheltered a mother, her daughter, and her husband, who have been forced to live in the olive groves of Sfax since early 2023. The National Guard—now a Tunisian criminal entity funded by Europe—arrived and set it on fire without any remorse.

This morning, news from Ajdabia in eastern Libya, supported by visual evidence, reported the discovery of a mass grave in which at least 21 people were killed. They were vulnerable refugees fleeing from Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. Your policies of blocking safe pathways also killed them.

In Niger, people on the move are protesting peacefully for 365+ days for the protection of their rights. It's the same playbook everywhere. Righteous anger against the difficulties of living being redirected by the political classes and their backers towards those who find it hardest to defend themselves. It's ideal for cowards as it requires great courage and personal risk to take on the powerful.

As the head of the Libyan Refugees NGO notes, the terrible situation for people there (and in Tunisia) gets precious little attention.

I’m deeply disappointed that there’s no outrage or news coverage about the violent xenophobic attacks happening in Libya. Black African “migrants” are being looted and beaten to death, with many being driven out of sight and into concentration camps for extortion.
