This looks great!! Not curly either.

I learned it because I kept hearing that it’s the easiest way to purl if you knit continental style. I quickly changed to continental. I was only about 2 days in to knitting for the first time. It was an easy switch. Lol

I agree! It does make it more special. It’s one of my favorites.

Are you going to add this into your final project? I’m pondering doing a twisted square for mine just for the giggles of it. 🤭

Oh!! 🤣 now I totally understand what happened. I see it too! Funny.

Thank you for your mistake. It’s helping in the learning process. I’m sure I will repay the favor several times over. 😅

I have a client who grew up in Norway. She was born in 1928! I adore her. She helped me with my Norwegian purl.❣️ How awesome is that! Anyway, we are currently decorating for Christmas and I’m obsessed!!! Look at all the hearts! ♥️♥️♥️ They aren’t just for Valentine’s Day! 😍who knew! They’re everywhere!

😂 welcome to the curly club! Idk. I thought it looked good though. But if it’s twisted… I guess a redo is in order.

Week 4: Ribbing

#knittingsquare

This week is ribbing. Whether it’s 1x1 - 2x2 - 3x3 or all of them! No wrong answers here.

Last week we alternated Knit and Purl by rows so this week I’d like to try alternating by stitches. 🧶

Join in at any time.❣️ Theres no beginning and likely no end either. 😁

The Difference between Seed, Moss & Double Seed Stitch
The Difference between Seed, Moss & Double Seed Stitch YouTube video by Nerdy Knitting

I found this video and I think it helps. youtu.be/ef38Eri5MPA?...

The first stitch of the row isn’t knit or purled. You just slide it directly from one needle to the other needle as is. Then begin your knit or purl row as you normally would.

Continuing rows. Ugh. Where’s the edit function?! lol

I read they’re slightly different??
Seed is K1, P1 to end of row and
Moss is K2, P2 to end of row. (Alternating the stitches for the counting rows.)

Okay. I’ll try that method too. Thank you! ❣️

Awe 🫢 so cute.

I mean slip the stitch not drop the stitch! I wish we could edit on this app. It’s a function I use often. 😅

Oh no! I meant to say “slip” the first stitch. Not drop it. So much new lingo swimming around in my mind. lol

I just slide it to the opposite needle without knit or purling it.

On the left is my first stockinette stitch - you can see how much the edges curled.

I read that dropping the first stitch of each row helps with this problem.

So I tried it, that’s the picture on the right. I think it’s an improvement. Still learning. 😊

My Stockinette Stitch curled at the ends. I read about dropping the first stitch of each row to prevent curling and helping with a neater edge. I’m going to try that this week too. #knittingsquare

Interesting. I have a friend who is a lefty knitter. Investigations begin. 🔎

Mine too. I stocked up at the craft store sales last week. ❣️

Yep. Exactly how mine look side by side too. 😊

I’m sure I’ll be experimenting with brands as I need a variety of sizes. I’m trying really hard to focus on one (or two lol) projects at a time. 😅

Yep, mine was the Norwegian. I was wondering if it was because of that so I’m glad you commented. Now I wonder if it’s us or just the stitch. Lol I’m hoping when combining it with the knit this week - it pulls it all together nicely. 🤞

Week 3: The Stockinette

#knittingsquare

Now that we’ve done the knit and purl, I thought it would be good to practice combining the two with the stockinette stitch.

Row 1: knit
Row 2: purl
Repeat. 🧶

I bought the addi brand but I haven’t tried them yet. If I’m still having problems I’ll try your recommendation next. Thank you! 😊
