Time to conclude my finances for this year! I’ve been tracking my net worth and investment gains since 2022 in a spreadsheet and not so long ago moved all data to NetFiscus.
This year has been my best yet! 💪
Though, the % gains vary depending on the currency you consider. 🧵

Same problem, their branding pushed everywhere on free tier and getting on a monthly subscription is costly for early products

Building my own solution keeps things in-house, but I’ve been wondering if using branded 3rd-party tools in the early stages is more acceptable than I think?

For now, I decided to code my own solution to gather emails and manage preferences. It’s not ideal since I want to focus on NetFiscus’s core business logic, but this feels like the best option to maintain control, professionalism and feature-proof authenticity.

Evaluated Options

- ConvertKit: Solid features but costly subscriptions
- Zoho Campaigns: Affordable, but no custom domain support (a dealbreaker)
- beehiiv: Looks great, but pricey for removing branding

I need an email service to:

- Collect emails via API
- Manage user preferences
- Send updates about the product features

But most options either have steep costs, (not)free tiers with branding, or lack essential features like fully custom domain support.
