Woo-HOO. No no-hitter!
Getting no-hit by a guy no one knew this morning is such a Phillies thing.
What gets lost in all of this is that in four years here, postseason moments aside, Casty's OPS+ was exactly 100. That means the Phillies were paying $20M per for a league average player when what they needed a power right hand bat in the cleanup spot. It was a mistake all around. Let's move on.
Can the Patriots do the position player thing and have a lineman play quarterback?
Best halftime show ever. Never thought anyone would touch Prince, but this...
Band in maroon and powder blues = WS win for Phils.
I have no idea what Bad Bunny is singing — and I am all the worse for it.
Best halftime show ever.
Hero right there.
Watch that. And then tell me how we replace Schumer with her
The long-term deals they had to commit to in order to get players most of us wanted pretty much ensured they would be running it back for a few years. If the catching market was better — it sucks across the sport — they wouldn't have re-signed JT. They are giving Casty the heave-ho, eating $20M.
Snow Fest canceled by, well, snow is the stay-at-home advisory of this young year.
I think Phils official day for pitchers and catchers is Feb. 10. Next week is usually the second week of High Performance Camp. Phantasy Camp is Jan. 21-25 and the players start trickling in then. Used to be JT would be one of the first there, but not this year. Nola's usually an early arrival, too.
Feb. 10, so 30 days away. First ST game is 41 days away. Opening Day is 74 days away.
They've talked about being creative for two off-seasons now. Maybe that translates into some deferred money for Bichette: a lower AAV for '26 while they carry the dead money of Casty and Walker and a big jump in '27 if there's a season. Get what you can for Bohm now. Not saying it happens. Still...
74 days until Opening Day
Is there a boycott corn movement?
They had the nerve to call it Operation Just Cause. Another milestone in the long, slow death of irony. And b/c it was the early days of Christian Nationalism, they had to make Noriega a Satan-worshipper. www.washingtonpost.com/history/2019...
H.W. Bush did the same thing to Noriega in Panama. (Search for Operation Just Cause.) Put him on trail in the US; was also tried in abstentia (and eventually did time) in Panama and France. There was a little more nuance in that regime change.
I guess there was a silent "s" in "America(s) First."
Progressives could make the Mummers Parade more fun and inclusive. Imagine a Gayborhood String Band playing "I Will Survive"and a Kingsessing Fancy Brigade marching to George Clinton. I'd go to that. (Before hating on me, I have been to the parade many times, including a few on psychedelics.)
Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.
My favorite baseball movie.
Strikeout is K Pop
Walkup song is "Pop Life" by Prince

I'll miss Strahm and this strikes me more about salary than performance. (I think the point about Strahm's stuff is a valid one.) The sample size is small but it looks as if this guy sits at 96 and misses bats. Thought they'd package Bohm and Strahm to get one of the Royals catching prospects.
😳 West Belfast says, "Aye, yer Ma!!"
Because baseball bluesky NEEDS to see this
The Free Speech crowd at it again. Like so much happening, this is deeply disturbing and un-American.

I’m no expert, but it seems with the proliferation of ads during broadcasts, I think it’s important to emphasize that the competition on the field or court — the game they can play — is very different from the wagering, which is being advertised like other products.
And keep an eye on your nephew. Addiction knows no bounds, of age or anything else.
When sports gambling became omnipresent, I feared it could become an Opiod Epidemic-level public health crisis. As easy as it was to get Oxy at the height of the epidemic, it's even easier for anyone to gamble; all you need is a phone.
