Injuries left them paralyzed. An early promising clinical trial is helping them walk short distances again. An Ironman athlete, told she'd never walk again after an accident more than six years ago, is now part of an early clinical trial, in which skull and spine implants help patients move paralyzed limbs.

For those who've suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury and are paralyzed, there's rarely encouraging news, which is why what's happening in early clinical trials in a research lab in Lausanne, Switzerland is so remarkable. https://cbsn.ws/3EWM73f

Such a great place to go back to! I used to read many many articles out there when I needed some fresh air. The campus is so beautiful esp near royce hall 💙💛

Frontiers | Stable improvement in hand muscle strength in incomplete spinal cord injury patients by long-term paired associative stimulation—a case series study

💥 Happy to share our latest publication, from a phd researcher #HelsinkiPASproject Kirsi Holopainen 🤩

Improvements in strength on stimulated and contralateral sides after PAS (cortical magnetic+peripheral electric stim) intervention in incomplete #SCI patients.

Navigating this new territory. Gathering our spinal cord injury community in one place. Holler if you want in (or out) :)

I had the priviledge to visit LA Children’s gait lab and learn about their protocols and systems. Best part of it was to notice that our movement analysis lab in Helsinki is very well equipped on international standards, still happy to have some new ideas on how to develop our #gaitanalysis

Spinal Cord Injury | Helsinki PAS Project | Finland Helsinki PAS Project webpage is dedicated to the research project investigating the therapeutic potential of paired associative stimulation (PAS) for spinal cord injury (SCI).

In my doctoral research 🤓 I study Paired Assiciative Stimulation, a neuromodulation method that combines cortical 🧠 and peripheral 💪🏻🦵🏼stimulation and aims to improve plasticity in corticospinal networks. Method is used for spinal cord injury rehabilitation

Hi bluesky 🤗 I’m trying to activate my account a bit and grow my network, I would love to connect with people who do #neurorehabilitation with #spinalcordinjury or #cerebralpalsy #neuromodulation and #gaitanalysis
