The Venture Bros, rip, is a thousand times funnier on all accounts, does messed up superheroes way better, and the animation (with the exception of the first flash animated season) is way better to look at. The cold Amazon animation cannot hold up to hand painted backgrounds. Also uses music better

And in the context of like "realistic superhero shows" it's even worse, The Boys, does everything Invincible wants to do but better and in live action. The themes hit harder, the violence is used more impactfully, and there are actually themes to the plot! The writing is good.

Also the plot is bizarre and truely meaningless. Rex dying for Rudy to....uhhh clone his body and assume his name? Think about that in real terms, your friend dies and your other friend assumes his identity? That's strange behavior, people would stop talking to that person it's too weird.

And the "jokes" are patentedly unfunny. There was one recently about hellknights constantly taking their helmets down to talk, for it to go back on while listening, and it was just flat. Like I know explaining the joke isn't helping but if you have seen the show you know It.

I've never read the comic, it could be good but if it has anywhere near as many empty pathos depression scenes as the cartoon it probably isn't.
