A clip I made from Terence McKenna's talk on the origins of personal computers and pre-internet access to all the information of the world and other people. Interestingly, I generally feel less connected to information and users on the internet now than Terence was describing he had in 1984!

If Plato is to be believed, learning is just remembering; our souls lived in the realm of ideas before becoming incarnated

Nice lighting! Did you have to set up custom lights in the environment to get that nice blue/orange spectrum?

What is the most immersive dj setup for vrchat currently?

Might be just wearing a headset like a hat? Or maybe an overlay app to dj software?

Ideally a vrc dj controller asset could be a midi controller to dj software running on that pc. Therefore the entire interface is in-world.

Painted up @oopspossum.bsky.social's little cicada warrior that @sleepybeetle.bsky.social sent her. Used some glitter modge podge gloss for the shell and wings (hard to see the effect in a photo)

The Occult Philosophy of Agrippa Seminar - YouTube

I've been really enjoying this lecture series on Agrippa, and the Esoterica channel is one of my favorites. Recommended for fans of deep dives into niche topics! youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I've definitely noticed that in YT and TikTok vids, I assume to try and dodge the content filters on those sites? But yeah, it's super patronizing to put on the kiddy gloves just for the subtitles.

I try very hard not to be a militant vegan or judge people for consuming meat. However, if we're about to have another pandemic because bird flu took root in our factory farms because people MUST HAVE MEAT, I'm gonna be pissed.

The modern glasses are tinted plastic to the same purple shade as the original compound and have the same effect. The best styles totally encapsulate the eye, like goggles, to let you adjust to the very dark lenses. Any glasses that light in through the side will ruin your night vision too fast.

But truthfully it's not illegal - you can easily buy dicyanin from many chemical suppliers in the US. What is true is that it's toxic and so putting it near your eyes (even behind glass) seems quite risky. The glasses now for sale that are called Dicyanin Glasses actually don't have Dicyanin in them

He then started selling the original pairs of goggles, which are now quite rare. The urban legend further goes on that Dicyanin was then made illegal! Tin foil hat types will tell you that is because the government didn't want people to discover the existence or ghosts and such.

The urban myth around Dicyanin Goggles is that the inventor was attempting to come up with a use for an coal byproduct. When he placed Dicyanin between two glass sheets, it was translucent and he was able to see auras around people.

Having used my pair on several ghost tours and such, I have unfortunately not caught even a wisp of a ghost through them. However, they are still really fun because they make the world around you look very strange. Many plants and flowers change color dramatically and have cool secret patterns!

Want to see a ghost? With these goggles you can (try)! They're marketed under various names like Aura Goggles and Dicyanin Glasses. Basically they are heavily pigmented goggles that let through only near ultraviolet light. The inventor claims they allowed him to see ghosts and people's auras. #ghost

I should caution that John R. King is clearly a narcissistic misogynist, so I can only recommend his book conditionally. Actually, a good caution for any random occult author you pick up off the shelf: there’s a decently high chance they’re an asshole (looking at you Crowley).
