Non-capitalist societies have a disturbing record of suppressing freedom of creativity. Annihilate was a poor word choice on my part given all the context now. I hope the writers get a much better deal than they currently have.

Art is really cool and artists deserve to earn a fair living when they make cool shit.

Writers deserve a complete revamp to the system and much better pay structure. A non-capitalist system is bad for almost everyone, writers would get annihilated in that scenario.
