ICE Got Warrants Under “False Pretenses,” Claims Columbia Student Targeted Over Gaza Protests ICE got warrants under a law that bars concealment of immigrants — yet the Gaza protesters were legal residents living at Columbia.

We are so excited to welcome @ronanoconnell.bsky.social to the lab as a new postdoc. He defended his PhD at Rice Uni where he worked in the Caleb Bashor lab. Ronan will spearhead an ongoing collab with the Bashor and @alexholehouse.bsky.social labs to map IDR sequence-function space at scale.

Since ~2020, I've noticed that the suggestion algorithm was getting worse and worse and drowning my feed w/ commentary I'd rather not see. Post-Elon, that became even worse. It's just too exhausting to sift thru all that to find the useful nuggets of wisdom; worth trying this for a bit.

Some BG on why I'm on Bluesky now: I used Twitter/X to find interesting papers in the cell engineering/BME field and read the "tweetorials" to get the gist. Very useful. Also in the late 2010s, it was a pretty good way to get live news updates from community-oriented journalists on the ground.
