Adderall can help, and high stakes can help. The most useful motivator, as you alluded to somewhere else, is other people depending on me. But when I'm trying to write a thing just for myself? It can feel genuinely, distressingly impossible. Don't know how else to describe it if you haven't felt it

I have an executive functioning disorder, and for me, Writer's Block is real in the same the way that Doing the Dishes Block is real. There are times when I want to do a thing, even want to 'knuckle down', but that want is neurologically useless for motivating action.

ABBA, a literally classic rhetorical device you'd see used in the speeches of any Roman orator 2,100 years ago, guess it still works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

mia, this is so unfair to these journalists. you have to remember that they were only betraying OTHER people in order to appease the fascists. They never meant to sell THEMSELVES out.

yeah that really frustrated me. Trump is basically communism and that's why he's bad actually

no, it's not, but that's not your fault. the world around you is bad right now, so however you make it through the day is ok, whether that means going numb or sobbing. all that matters is you know you'll make it through <3

The whiskey had helped for a while, until it hadn't. Now it was more habit than anything. There's a kid at the bar crying over his first lost love. Doesn't even know what else he's lost. Too young to have known the joy of Campbell's Raviolios. Never will. On account of the worst mistake I ever made.

Hi! I will be taking a long trip to Toronto soon, and I'd love recommendations on restaurants/cool places! Especially near Parkdale/West End area! Also, I'm trans and an improviser, so any cool queer or comedy spaces would also be great to hear about! <3 #toronto #queertoronto #transtoronto

🚨 New directive NSPM-7 targets "anti-capitalism," “anti-Christian,” and “anti-American" opinions as indicators of extremist violence, authorizing an army of 4,000 counter-terrorism officers to prevent crimes that haven't happened:

for a label for this phenomenon, which I've just been softy calling "epistemic arrogance", but I think Hermeneutic Dismissiveness might be more appropriate! Can't wait to read the paper :)

misinterpretation and projection etc. Then, when their assumptions fail to align with a trans person's self reported motivations etc, these transphobes choose to stop trusting the trans person rather than question the adequacy of their own phenomenal palette to understand them. I've been looking...

I love this. I've been thinking a lot about how certain kinds of transphobia seem to be rooted in the inability or refusal to believe that another person's self-reported phenomenal experience might not be directly translatable into the terms of one's own experience. This leads to all kinds of...

Mystery group 1:

Some Special Response Team guys, via the SRT marking on helmet. They have a patch with a bear over a sword crossed by lightning with a star. Seems like some kind of California crew, but the sword and lightning patches I can find online so far are all army.

Nine hours into The Dawn of Everything by David Graeber and @davidwengrow.bsky.social and I can’t recommend it enough!

I haven’t felt this excited to learn since my greek history prof introduced me to the greco-indian kingdom of Bactria a decade ago.

I’m a sucker for ancient cultural exchange!
