Keep in mind that ostensibly Trump's play here is to inflict enough economic damage onto Canada that it has no other choice and/or eventually agrees to annexation.
The problem with this, especially for Canada, is that compared to Australia they have the leverage to wield retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. effectively - especially when it comes to energy and fertilizer/potash.
