Tweet by Martina Navratilova. "Predator. That is how he should register. A sexual predator…" quote-tweeting a tweet by "Biology Rules OK" about Dr. Beth Upton, a trans woman

This tweet is highly defamatory and Martina Navratilova should be fired from BBC Sport for it.

It demonstrates an horrendous level of hatred for a trans woman (who was cleared of all wrongdoing in a recent tribunal) because she is a trans woman.

I painted up this guy recently - a free mini from Victoria Miniatures' Kickstarter. Really I just wanted to see what I thought of it, whether it's something I'd spin out into my next attempt at getting the Guard to stick (love the guard, can't settle on a regiment!) 🧵

The correct lemon squeezer hats!

I would happily take it! 😂 I know I have rellies out there (somewhere on the North Island but I couldn't tell you further than that!) who've given us a blanket "drop over if you're in the area" like it's not on the other side of the globe but I really bloody would you know.

Or I sit on my hands and paint my damn grey pile, but where's the fun in that? 😂

Another option I'm toying with to add fuel to those folks who thought I'm a kiwi (I'm not, but thanks! 🇳🇿) is to put aside my need to make everything completely unique and try these guys as a cooler take on Catachans.

I do really like Victoria minis, and I've had a bunch of different regiments made from their parts (I wish I had pictures, but alas).

I could always go buck wild and pick and mix from their bitz to make a special snowflake regiment. Fuck it, kilts and
pickelhaubes, with hussar wings, let's go!

Also, I am a special snowflake, it's a miracle that I ever build and paint something as per the box art and this guy is definitely a Praetorian. They're at Big Toof River, in the codexes and the spin off RPGs, there's not really the room to make them my own.

On the other, there's a Rourke's Drift, Darkest Africa, God Save The Queen, The Sun Never Sets vibe to it. While there's nothing inherently wrong with the Victorian era (hell, I'm also writing a game set in the 1880s), I do feel a little ick at what that aesthetic is often now used to represent.

I'm very much in two minds. On one hand, I love the red, navy and off-white, and I can't fault the mini - it painted quickly and the details are just right. The historical influence provides a basis for visually differentiating line, grenadiers, cavalry, artillery, and command (it's the hats!)

Basing & Terrain Bricks v2 Bricks & Brick walls for wargaming basing and scenery, their propper scale for an average War & Maces game so will fit perfectly on your 25mm+ bases, the curved mini wall fits a 32mm Update* Added 8 m...

The bricks I got from cults, genuinely years ago. Just tracked them down to here: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/...

I've modified the bricks, mainly just dragging them to the size I need. The sprue I knocked together in about 10 minutes in 3d builder, it's not sophisticated but I hope it'll work!

Kicking myself that it has taken until now - until right at the end of the project, to cotton on to this concept. Longer print time, sure, but so much easier in terms of cleanup time and I'm getting so many more to a print plate.

Assuming it works!

My phone's just reminded me of this photo from six years ago. 28 year old Cat was so stinking cute, I had no freaking idea.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions!

I tried printed brick paper like model railway guys use, I couldn't get it to not look like ass.

I tried a texture roller on foam, caulk, and clay, and it looked like ass.

So I broke and went insane, and now I'm commited! 😂

Ah! 19 April – 126th anniversary of the day William Butler Yeats kicked Aleister Crowley downstairs as they fought for control of the British branch of the not-at-all-ridiculous Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the Battle of Blythe Road. According to legend, anyway... 🧵

They're 3d printed, resin, 50 at a time, and each one is laid by hand. I've very genuinely lost count of how many hours I've plugged into it 😂

It's going to be a small board for skirmish gaming - starting with a project I'm writing myself ☺️

I'm going to finish it then cast it into the fire like it's the one ring, the hateful creation of madness that it is!

A single figure as described previously. Here follows fluff:

On Manawyddan, it was common for the Cailleachs - sea witches - to surround themselves with a guard of noble warriors, all bearing a spark of witchcraft. These warriors could not themselves work the tides of the unseen, but their tie was undeniable, manifesting in unusual luck, flashes of foresight and other such minor miracles. Their duty was simple - it was not unheard of for a witch to go soaring with gulls or commune with the deep and come back beset with madness, or followed by some terrible spirit of the waves. In these times, her guard would act to protect both the Cailleach and their tribe while the witch fought to control herself and battle the great and terrible forces of the spirit world. In the worst times, they would act to mercifully end their mistress should she lose herself entirely.

When the tribes of Manawyddan became the gene-stock for the Krakenborn, both the Cailleachs and their guards came with them. With the training and discipline of the legion, the Cailleach Guard no longer needed to watch their mistresses for possession, but formed a bodyguard to protect her from mundane foes upon the battlefield. To show their rank, they donned robes of kelp-cloth over their warplate and helms fronted with a silver mask of intricate make. Veterans all of a hundred battles, they took for their arms the krakenhammer, a dreadful piercing weapon crafted from the ever-sharp fang of a leviathan of their homeworld. Paired with a shield, they could keep their foes at bay and deliver punishing blows to crack ceramite with ease and pulverise the bone beneath. Though originally their foes were purely flesh and blood, during the heresy they found their spark of connection to the warp made them exceptionally skilled at battling the neverborn. Guided by their cailleachs, they sought out the possessed and the incarnate to destroy their physical forms and banish their immaterial evil back from where it came.
