Ps… thanks for your continual strong voice for UBI.

Thank you so much. I think of others at the brink with all kinds of situations like ours.
I so agree!
Bless you… thank you. We got a break yesterday as palliative care has now been activated and we’re getting help to manage his ever more complex pain meds. 👍
Ewww. Yesterday, I was cleaning my outside mirror and put my hand thru one. 😖
That’s so great for people in those places. I have ancestry there and when they say this is the richest country in the world, I think of several states with chronic poverty that we ignore so often.
‘Cause our lives MATA.
Respect to those who got here first.
I’ve cared for another person with healthcare when I didn’t have it myself.
It feels like erasure. It’s maddening knowing that person is dependent on you and you don’t have a net.
This time, I have a chronic condition for which I cannot afford to pay out of pocket.
I’m actually out of pockets.
My partner has cancer. Of all things to worry about, financial worries, especially income and medical, are maddening when you know there are tools for that not being used, a livable UBI and universal healthcare.
I’m one of the people whose insurance is at risk in the shutdown fight.
Ugh.

I love how the Basic inspires volunteerism. That sounds awesome. 👍
Right now, imma unpaid family caregiver… so my wish would be to support the many modalities of care… on call… regularly helping support…. Full time maintenance, full time intensive… sandwich children and elder… multiple patients… caregiving while also disabled or with a condition. Love you all. ❤️❤️❤️
What would you like to do in the community?
How would a basic income help you or a loved one?
I support universal healthcare and a universal basic income. If that makes me a radical leftist, so be it.
Anyone who thinks AI will run it's course I think is in a pipe dream. Big business doesn't give a rats ass and continue to utilize it to reduce their paid work force. It's going to impact everything from accounting, banks etc..add in robotics developing at a crazy pace , it's why we need UBI now .
OBSERVED EFFECTS OF UBI No significant reduction in labor supply (38 studies meta-analysis) Increased self-employment (301%) and part-time employment (17%) Slight decrease in alcohol and tobacco use (31 studies meta-analysis) New mothers extend their maternity leaves Birth weights improve due to better maternal nutrition Graduation rates and educational outcomes improve Hospitalization rates decline (8.5%) Crime goes down (15%–42%) especially illegal hunting (95%) Domestic violence decreases (30%–51%) Trust increases (13% in politicians | 6% in other people) Home ownership rates increase (17%–26%) Food security increases as does consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables Improved cognitive functioning (43%) and personality traits (31%) Savings go up, debts go down Source: scottsantens
I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.
This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵
Our beliefs about work are as deeply rooted as our beliefs about gods. We tend to worship both and question neither.

Disabled people aren’t expendable.
We aren’t “less than”.
Disability isn’t a moral failing or a punishment.
It’s a part of life. It will happen to almost everyone eventually.
Instead of assuming you will be the exception, help us create better social supports.
Commit to inclusion.
A Basic Income would help survivors get away and stay away. Knowing there’s consistent financial support means rebuilding after DV so much faster.
Day 1 of the government shutdown.
Trump is planning to use the shutdown as cover to purge civil servants. Mass firing federal employees and dismantling agencies has been a long-time goal.
Any shutdown layoffs are ILLEGAL. He has zero new authority to fire federal workers.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hold on a second. Answer the question. As Speaker, do you believe it's appropriate to use American cities as training grounds for the military, calling those people 'the enemy within'?
JOHNSON: I'm not comment on your characterization of what the president said.
S: Those are quotes
Didn’t they defund that already in the BIG Bad Bill?
No Tylenol for you.
They raised prices anyway.

Making sure people are ok is kindness. Basic income is kindness.
