I assume he's still living there and that Hazel still hasn't got around to fixing his flat over the shop.

I'm still not convinced that, at the moment, Brian is at risk of being charged. His culpability seems pretty much on a par with William and Emma and the police decided that didn't meet the bar for prosecution. Unless Brian starts directly lying to the police, I think he's safe.

Good point. It would be ironic if George was returned to jail for his complicity in covering up what happened to him, thus leaving the anonymous thug on the hook for the crime. OK, George thinks it was Brian, rather than Ruairi, but he knows it wasn't the anonymous thug.

I'm assuming that Fletcher is going to be deemed (correctly or incorrectly) as just what is needed to boost someone's mental health. My money is still on him ending up in Glebe Cottage, regardless of whether Carol shares Robert's view on caged birds.

What are the chances that the budgie is going to find a home as a companion to Carol Tregorran?

From what Brian said, it sounded as if he wasn't actually planning to leave Adam a controlling share in the farm. I think he said his codicil would "tell the others to vote with Adam", or words to that effect. I really can't see that holding for more than five minutes.

Yes. IIRC, it was a while before O learned about their history. I remember an excruciating trip the 4 of them had, when B & O were doing business in Hungary. J was, understandably, very uncomfortable around C. B & O were both oblivious, for different reasons.

Except I very much doubt it's a house, or village, she would want to live in, if not with Brian. It's a huge house for a single person to live in, assuming she isn't in the habit of hosting huge parties we've never heard about. I suspect that, alone, she's quite happy where she is.

I think that, from her perspective, it was more imploring Brian to give her a reason not to end the relationship. The way Brian's behaving at the moment, I wouldn't blame her at all for telling him to push off!

I assume it started with the idea of her moving nearer / into the village, and grew from there. I think it would have been a recipe for disaster. Brian would constantly have been reminded of the ways Miranda isn't Jenny, rather than enjoying the ways that she's Miranda.

As someone else commented, it's more about control than support. He wants to make sure that Ruairi doesn't decide to go to the police to confess. He couldn't cope with either the perceived failure of his promise to Siobhan, or the loss of status, if Ruairi was convicted.

This is assuming that Ruairi would then confess, reasonably promptly. The longer Brian and Ruairi messed the police and the justice system around, the more seriously it would be taken.

Actually, thinking about it, because he wasn't pointing the finger at an innocent party (other than himself) but trying to point it away from a guilty one, I think there's a good chance it would be C3, which would mean High level community order – 9 months custody.

I think the thing she needed most was certainty that he *would* move in, and sooner rather than later. She was also, very justifiably, furious that he hadn't had this discussion with her before she was committed to the sale. I agree that he thought he was the one who needed comforting!

Perverting the course of justice

If he did try to claim responsibility, and ended up being charged for PCJ, rather than for GBH, I suspect it would be classed as C2, which would mean 6 months – 1 year’s custody and, given Brians age, there's a good chance it would be suspended.

That would be good. At the moment, Brian would be very unlikely to be charged, any more than Will and Emma were. If he tries to claim, to the police and under caution, that he was the guilty party, that would become a very different matter though.

As things are, she clearly isn't fine with it, with good reason. What I was thinking was IF Brian had something like, "Ruairi's up in court in a couple of months and I don't think I can leave him before that". That would be very different from Brian's actual, open ended, reluctance.

I suspect he's done a fair bit of all that, over the years.

I think her dumping Brian is extremely likely, with every justification. I really can't see Miranda choosing to share her home with either lodgers or asylum seekers though. Renting it out, while she takes herself off around the world would be the most likely outcome.

I agree that the eco-house would have been a great idea but I think Tony was right when he said to David that he'd left it too late. There would be a huge amount of work in making that happen, and it would be too much at his age.

A possibility, yes, but it is more of a probability with the sheep, especially with the need for land, which Brian has.

If she was sure that Brian not moving in was just a temporary delay, she'd probably have been fine with it. As it was, it was unclear whether, or when, Brian would be willing to move. That leaves her with the prospect of living in a house. & village, she wouldn't choose on her own.

Yes, she could, but I can quite see why she doesn't want to. Presumably, up till now, she has had a very comfortable home, a comfortable size for living alone. The prospect of rattling around a large 5-6 bed farmhouse, with two exes as neighbours, really doesn't sound attractive!

I've been starting to wonder whether Tony will be her saviour. I think it's possible that Tony and Pat will take over the purchase of the house on The Green, handing Bridge Farm House over to Helen. As Tony commented, Natasha has made it clear she doesn't want it.

I think he could see George's sheep becoming a money pit for him, with George repeatedly coming back asking for more "investment", including being expected to house the sheep on Home Farm.

And probably an excellent choice for a trendy hobby farm. The fact that they're endangered makes me think they're almost certainly at least one of high maintenance or low yield. Quite possibly both.

Those do look very cute. I'd never heard of Cotswold Lions before last night but I can't help suspecting that, if they were a good commercial prospect, they probably would never have become an endangered species. Surely those are better suited for hobby farms, than as your main income.
