Happy Independent Bookstore Day! Read Maris's piece, then go show your local indie bookstore some love. They're so much more than places to get books--they are places to engage with ideas and others in your community. Staffed by actual humans to help you find the books you didn't know you needed!

I hear this critique. I think the risk of fetishizing is legit, but it also feels more complicated than that? All of the non-speakers on the podcast are excited to share their stories and want to be seen and listened to--which I think the show does a fairly respectful job of?
I just started, but the main character has a great and distinctive voice. Enjoying it so far--will update!
True, I just always lose my spot lol. Normally when we leave, I do a loop around the house to pick up everything that could be eaten... Books are a last resort, but obviously still of interest 😂
Just started to listening to the Telepathy Tapes--an investigation into the communication abilities of non-speakers with Autism. Excellent and paradigm shifting (though maybe not surprising)--strong recommendation!
Sometimes I find my bookmarks ripped out and bitten up on the floor. There is no limit to Brody's bad behavior 😂
First bluesky post ✅
Jealous! Once I hit the emails at the bottom, that are semesters old, I lose the ability to make rational and organized decisions 😂
