My original comment was snarky but I wanted to let you know I enjoyed your thoughtful response - not so much that was unfamiliar to me content wise, but it was understandable and free of jargon. Which puts a lot of people off.

Why not? AI will change how people do jobs like the spreadsheet. Should accountants and financial analysts go back to sitting shoulder by shoulder hunched over paper spreadsheets with pencils and adding machines?
It’s absolutely not the solution to say the US should look more like the southern Italian economy - essentially “become poorer”, with a drop in living standards and with economic complexity. Didn’t benefit Russia and others who’ve tried that.
It is very sustainable. The US needs modification so it has better designed labor institutions and welfare provision. Which it can look to Northern Europe for knowledge. Where economic efficiency and quality of life reinforce one another.
The southern European family firm - productivity milestone aside - is the anchor for the regions tax and general white collar frauds problem.
Or, large firms simply are more efficient, better run entities?
Beneficial to whom? Their owners? No doubt. You’d likely be imposing diffuse dead weight costs with inferior outputs at higher prices.
I just point out they are misapplying strike logic and they get weirdly flustered.
Or at least find out what the people they want to be the vanguard of think of them.
I invite those leftists to canvass, do phone banking to marginal and non voters like I have for multiple elections. It won’t disabuse them of all their delusions - they have far too many. They’ll be shocked and maybe understand why the one candidate to appeal to some of them was Trump.
Jack Walsh joining my gobsmacked and “WTF have I just seen” club. Having to read it a few times because “did I actually read what I think I read” feeling is elite tier.
Wonder how many of said Greeks would actually want to live there. It being a quite the downgrade economically.
You, you may have topped my, still theoretical, favorite possible land acknowledgement. Land acknowledgement in the Balkans. What could go wrong?
Well, I didn’t expect to see this before I go to bed.
I wish I could like this more than once.
Haha, been told by a number of people that tax fraud and frauds in general commonly come to light during a divorce.
Yeah. Tax fraud has always been weird to me, in that you have people with lots to lose permanently fuck up their lives for sums not that material for them. Goes for most white collar crime in general too. I can get taking the risk for life altering payouts, but not amounts I saw. Weird.
It’s pretty common with small businesses and hilariously blatant. It’s not even “buy one of those crazy tax packages” it’s just basic fraud. When I did tax I thought maybe go to law school, do criminal tax law, until I spoke with lawyers who did that sort of thing.
Someone who cannot do the basic, low effort activity of voting is who I’d want in an existential crisis. Oh, wait. No. Absolutely fucking not.
When you lose it all on crypto like a real American! Mutual funds and basic financial plumbing provided by institutions like Vanguard is elitist.
Engines of tax fraud too!
Jogged my memory. So, question about Question Time that you may have insight too. Years ago, it was explained to me that it is likely unconstitutional. I don’t recall the specifics and the person explaining it wasn’t a crank either.
Beat me to it!
Many will current socialists are future libertarians. Mutual aid obsession - recreating Reaganism from first principles - and their glorification of antisocial behavior like fare evasion, yeah. They’d fit right in with the libertarians in NH.
I do wonder in the next ten years how much of the - well represented here - righteous and purity left will have gone over to the right in one form or another.
I can see her as a future David Horowitz like figure. But hers being eventual prison followed by former left wing terrorist saw the light, became right wing, and it’s the one true path.
No. It doesn’t flatter their parochial obsessions. The publication of this is heretical to Founder Thought and must be dealt with an essay on X the everything app. Situated nicely between posts of “the Jews did 9/11” and a beheading clip.
They haven’t given up Marxism as an orientation, for whatever reason, but the basically provide the “how Marx got it wrong” answer.
Well, wanted to go from from memory and for the one of the cleanest examples. Really. You don’t have to take my word for it, critical accounting is dominated by Marxists. They’ve done the granular work piece by piece of what he’s describing and how it’s explained by accounting identities.
I’ve been morbidly fascinated with Marx since I first read him, not for his substance. Because of how much of “how the economy works” is just accounting identities from firm level financial statements. But he expresses it in national accounting terms. Like, WTF?
