Posts by Dr Tacey "dumb blonde" O'Neil

Beth worked as a doctor for years until a transphobe turned up. Now, she's had to leave her job, leave her home, move to the other side of the world and is still being hounded and harassed by the media and cult.

She did nothing but exist as trans in the orbit of Sandie Peggie.

Trans people are exhausted.

Non-stop fighting, writing, documenting, archiving, pleading, begging, hiding, crying and more.

Exhausted.

I have been considering similar tbh.

I'm not going to pretend to understand UK politics, but I suspect that getting rid of Starmer is a coordination problem, and "wait until after May" has become a sort of Schelling focal point.

call me radical but I simply think the shortlist should include one from each country and nationals shouldn’t be eligible

We have written to Kezia Dugdale, the new Chair of Stonewall. Addressing the major concerns we have with her comments in her interview.

these paywalls are annoying but I'm glad they've stopped the "We care about your privacy" rubbish and gone with the much more honest "fuck you pay us"

Reminder that, over the space of three years, 2022-24, there were a grand total of FOUR actual complaints to English public bodies about trans people in "single-sex spaces".

FOUR.

Only the bigots care, and it isn't a real problem.

i'm currently on episode 9 ('the first misogynist') and enjoying them all in a 'i hate these people' kind-of-way -- you and @homotoptheory.bsky.social are doing good and necessary work!

i loved lots of things about this book -- near-future, apocalyptic sci-fi with queer protagonists: it's fun!

in my first year of transition, i had ten days or so when i was home alone and each day i tried a different makeup look, took photos, and tried to work out what should be changed -- i had some disasters but i learnt so much

major surgery is always scary but the surgical team are professionals and will keep you safe

(despite the discomfort, i was so happy during my post-surgery recovery: no responsibilities, euphoria with the results, and weeks of enforced relaxation -- i almost wish i could do it all again!)

Handy Guide:

✅ Free Speech: When GCs who had no relation to my University complained to try and get me kicked off my course

❌ Not Free Speech: Exercising one's right to peaceful protest against those advocating your exclusion from society – on the campus you have to live and work in

In my own personal opinion the crisis in universities is: the student loan scandal, fees, debt, high rents, poor quality housing, high transport costs, lack of flexible work, low wages, long waiting lists for counselling, lack of specialist support equipment for students, mass staffing cuts.

Her office said the Office for Students (OfS), which regulates universities, had received reports of speakers and lecturers being harassed and blocked for holding gender-critical or religious views, of foreign interference suppressing academic freedoms, and of ideological belief requirements featuring in job advertisements.

The OfS will be able to use the new complaints scheme from September. From April, it will be able to fine universities the greater of £500,000 or 2 per cent of their income, which would amount to millions of pounds for large institutions, for breaches under the Freedom of Speech Act. Ultimately, universities could be deregistered for egregious cases.

Bridget Phillipson will introduce new laws to make it possible for Universities to be fined millions of pounds if they don't silence students who protest bigots invited onto their campuses. It's like the Tories never left office.

I've spent the day helping put together a museum cabinet to display the history of the local pride.

The fact that Kezia Dugdale is saying “things could go backwards” when trans people are already losing their human rights tells you absolutely everything you need to know about Stonewall and Kezia Dugdale.

It tells you exactly who they care about, and who doesn’t matter.

Exciting!

I'm up early because I'm taking part in a queer history project being run by my town's museum. Regretting agreeing before I knew the start time!
