Happy to share this with you!
Together with the Längst lab (Uni Regensburg) we characterized PfSnf2L as essential regulator for „just in time“ transcription.
A big thanks to our collaboration partners (Marti lab) and Llinas lab (@llinaslab.bsky.social).

5/ This work highlights the potential of chromatin remodeling-targeted therapies for malaria and other parasites and also sheds light on the role of chromatin regulation in Plasmodium biology.
4/ Given the evolutionary distance between Plasmodium and human chromatin remodelers, she also explored the drugability of PfSNF2L finding a Plasmodium-specific inhibitor that mimics PfSNF2L Knockout!
3/ She shows that PfSNF2L is required for the correct timing of the entire transcriptional program, making it essential in asexual development and sexual differentiation of the parasite.
2/ Fantastic work by Maresa characterizing the Plasmodium chromatin remodeler PfSNF2L both in vitro and in vivo and also finding an inhibitor with great potential as a drug!
1/ Our Plasmodium Chromatin story is finally out! 🎉 Thrilled to share our latest work in @nature.com : www.nature.com/articles/s41...
