“I usually go after hardened criminals that normal authorities can’t even pursue since they’re not human.”

“Yeah… They figured to keep the monsters in check, use a worse monster.” He chuckles faintly.

“Yeah my friend says I have that sort of face that looks like I’m up to no good. Sounds kinda stereotypical but it’s not completely untrue.”

"Well kinda, not that long... I didn't start doing this because I wanted to; I got into trouble and was roped into this. But also, some demons just cause headaches by coming here, and it just inconveniences." He explains. "But I guess peacekeeping is the right word."

"Oh yeah, there are certain regions, and cities were demons and other non-humans just live among people, some use magic or their natural ability to take on human disguises, and others like me are mixed with humans."

"A person walking past could be a non-human just going about their business."

"Bad people?" To say any city was full of good decent people would ignorant, and he hadn't heard any rumours about his destination.

"What happened to you?" Zack can tell this person wasn't a threat and if they seemed uneasy, scared even.

"Kinda, there's an actual official group that handles, demon hunters, sentries, people with magic as a lot of the non-humans who live here have to follow rules... I mostly take care of stragglers or specific individuals since I'm half demon."

"Just keeping an eye on demons who are known for causing trouble... Since we live in a blended world but most humans aren't aware of demons and other non-humans living among them."

"Some demons come here looking to cause trouble... Since this city has a high populate of demons."

Zack's interest was peeked as this individual was trying to escape from the distant city.

"Yeah, I came from the far north direction. There's business I have in the city before heading past to the next region." He explains to the other. "Why were you trying to get away from the city?"

“Hmm… I do odd jobs here and there mostly I keep demons in line that find their into this city, or another hostile non-humans. Security stuff… I work at a bar sometimes.” He replies.

“I mostly keep to myself. Not a people person, when in large groups anyway.”

“Minding your own business… In the middle of a vast desert with no one around but me.” He pauses before lowering his guard.

“I take it since you’re not following me. You’re heading towards that city?” He gestured to direction of the city in the distance as there was nothing else around for miles.

To his surprise Zack sees a strange man stumbling out of his hiding spot. For a split second he reached for a sword but when he couldn’t sense any malice or intent from the other, and the meekness in his voice. He stops himself.

“Hey…” He replies in a bit of an awkward tone.

Sensing someone nearby, made Zack stop in his tracks, the winds making his cloak sway in the wind, as he removed his hood.

He glances around, his eyes stopping the direction where he could sense a person.

Though he could not sense any malice or violent intent.

“Hello?!” He yells out.
