This is just flagrant incorrect, and a sign that OP has not read any of the relevant literature he claims is non-existent. The most generous thing I can say is that it’s an ungenerous category error to treat cutting defense--a prescription--as your opp’s diagnosis of world politics

NATO’s Existence Prevents European Independence Just a quick intervention after reading a well-reported piece in the Financial Times, about a rift in European military security thinking.

“Europe should not trust US arms production any more than it would trust Chinese arms production...there is no hope of realizing a meaningfully Independent Europe if the continent is dependent on US weapons procurement.” www.un-diplomatic.com/p/natos-exis...

Predator (1987) w/ Eric Stinton | Ep. 65 Van and Lyle are joined by writer and educator Eric Stinton, whose combat sports columns for Sherdog and essays for Honolulu Civil Beat have long explored how violence reveals deeper truths about cult...

The Predator (1987) was fun as hell to watch (and critique). From gym bro masculinity to homo-eroticism to far-right stabbed-in-the-back myths, this movie was also a prism foretelling our future political dystopia. A great watch w/ @tombstonestint.bsky.social www.bangbangpod.com/p/predator-1...

April 13, 2026 – Online sports betting is growing as a facet of American life, with 27% of Americans and half of men ages 18-49 (52%) saying they have an active account with an online sportsbook such as DraftKings, Caesars, FanDuel, or BetMGM, according to a new survey of United States residents released today by the Siena Research Institute (SRI) and St. Bonaventure University’s Jandoli School of Communication. This trend is up from 22% of Americans in 2025 and 19% in 2024, showing a slow but steady increase in online sports betting interest over the past few years of the survey. A third of Americans (33%) say they have opened an account at least once.

52% of US men between the ages of 18-49 have an active sports betting account.

This is what you get when the sports/media complex goes all-in on gambling.

Hard to overstate how troubling a development this is for fans and athletes alike.

Are You Numb to the Propaganda Yet? Notes on American exceptionalism, militarism, and the much-needed force of antiwar politics.

“If the language of opposition to one war is the language of much larger war preparations elsewhere, then we are lost. At minimum, it’s a sign of just how hegemonic militarism is in American life.” open.substack.com/pub/undiplom...

The crisis facing most people isn’t who participates in athletics; it’s a very active class war, facilitated by denying equal rights to marginal populations on the grounds of outrage politics. Also fuck you if you want to come at me attacking trans people for any reason

The Pope and The Pentagon This story hits weirdly close to home.

In the 1980s, the success of the nuclear freeze movement and Reagan’s pivot to arms control had a lot to do with the Vatican campaigning for a nuclear freeze. The Pentagon fears the Pope’s moral authority, and that’s why it threatened the Church www.un-diplomatic.com/p/the-pope-a...

Fascist Nuke Fears, Moneyballing Nuclear War, and Risk Factors of Armageddon We should be worried about either the US or Israel using nukes against Iran.

"The same ideological blind spot in Western analysis that accommodates a genocide in Gaza would accommodate either the US or Israel busting the nuclear taboo." @vanjackson.bsky.social is surely right about this, and also reminds us that luck saved us from nuclear war with North Korea in 2017-8.
