Very difficult time for #UniCanberra staff going through 'spill and fill' processes or facing the loss of their position.
We've managed to improve the situation somewhat, with 60+ no longer in 'spill and fill' processes following @nteunion.bsky.social efforts.

Yesterday, 52 job cuts at #UniCanberra were proposed, in addition to 141 already gone.
'Spill and fills' are symptoms of failure of management, failure of governance, failure of the Assistant Professor Scheme.
Snap @nteunion.bsky.social meeting tomorrow - register: https://buff.ly/41JyiOm
We'll be conducting an #ANU all-staff vote of no confidence in February - if the Vice-Chancellor is still in the position.

More news out of #ANU.
@nteunion.bsky.social is deeply concerned about the potential for inadequate provision of medical services, including mental health support, during one of the most stressful and turbulent times in ANU's recent history.
I don’t think I can handle four more years of this, and it hasn’t even started.
It is time for this farce to end. It is time for #ANU Council to act to put the university community before the individual.
@nteunion.bsky.social members care deeply about ANU. The Vice-Chancellor is damaging the university and bringing it into disrepute.
The CFMEU high court challenge started today at 10am and there’s a rally at parliament starting now
#NewsCorpse hasn't strayed far from its roots!
'News Limited was established in 1923 by James Edward Davidson and funded by the Collins Group mining empire for the purpose of publishing anti-union propaganda.'
“All universities should use this new model which gives workers a stronger voice in raising underpayments and strengthens the governance model which has allowed wage theft to flourish.” -Alison Barnes, NTEU National President

Google is now literally privatizing education by directly partnering with education institutions to socialise students into AI. And the UK PM helped launch it. This is next-level privatization, turning a public institution of education to private tech interests entirely blog.google/around-the-g...
So much politics in this post that the SDA won’t even mention the name of “the other union” lol
Shame on the Fair Work Commission!! 🤬🤬🤬
It's so disgusting how limited we unionists are with what industrial action we can do in this country. And how we have to beg to do it at all!
SHAME!!0
Solidarity to Woolies strikers ✊️✊️✊️
Our emails about "stop leaking about ANU's toxic management culture" keep getting leaked to the media, once again, we are reminding you to please be nice to the executives who plan to fire 600 of you
ABC is reporting that Woolworths has won a decision against UWU in the Fair Work Commission www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12...
“Morale is at an all-time low. Staff are miserable. ANU is not an enjoyable place to work, and that’s due to the vice chancellor’s leadership culture.” - @nteunion.bsky.social ANU Branch President Millan Pintos-Lopez on the leadership crisis at #ANU.
Yes, VC pay has been in the news a lot recently, no surprises why… how does your university rank when it comes to pay, wage theft and secure jobs? Sign up for a free poster to find out: nteu.info/vcgame
So many disciplines that are necessary for a civil society functioning well fall under the humanities - this not just an attack on the university and knowledge, it’s an attack on the idea of society itself.
@skyview.social unroll
Woolies’ application for an injunction will be heard at 9am this Friday.
This means their profits will have to suffer a bit more before learning whether a multibillion dollar organisation can use the state police force to violently disperse a democratic picket line.
How good’s capitalism, hey?
In session in the Federal Court for Monash Uni’s wage theft case. I’ll be live posting from this hearing today. The NTEU alleges Australia’s largest university has not lawfully paid hundreds, perhaps thousands, of its casual teachers going back to 2016. Justice Snaden is the judge.
The building industry group of unions of workers has resolved to put their 80,000 members on notice if woolies attempts to break the strike (one step closer to solidarity strikes woo).
“We will be there in large numbers at a moments notice”
Al Jazeera Investigations: "Quadcopters were emitting baby sounds, playing sounds of screaming women." Palestinians in Gaza say Israel has been using small quadcopter drones, equipped with loudspeakers, to lure them out of their homes and then shoot them. #GazaCrimes
I've said it before, there's nothing Black Mirror could write that's anywhere near to the real horrors that Israel is enacting upon Palestinians daily
Sorry, had a nap - woolies have applied for an injunction with Fair Work to try open the Dandenong south site (more updates coming)
Monash University faces the Federal Court in Melbourne tomorrow for a wage theft prosecution. A group of casual teachers owed backpay will be gathering at the Federal Court forecourt, 305 William St, from 8am Wed 4 Dec, to demand wage justice. You're welcome to join us
According to woolworths the strikes have cost them $50 million so far
