#My10PrinceSongs 10 years on from Prince's passing
Things I talk to my #MLIS students about:
*my salary (as an adjunct & as a librarian)
*my student loans (how much I owe & the PSLF process)
*vocational awe (RIP Fobazi)
*Melvil's legacy & why it matters
*the job hunt (I show them my academic interview day schedules & they're horrified).

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

They're looking for submissions for articles, reviews, hot takes, zines, & artwork focused on privacy, intellectual freedom, information democracy, & more! 📚
Always love the Charleston Conference as a gathering of library workers, publishers, & vendors figuring things out together. Shoutout to the Library Collective who hosts the Libraries Rock concerts during Electronic Resources & Libraries, featuring diverse Austin bands that include library workers!
AI music generation tools have come a long way. Check out, for example, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Prince & the Revolution's Parade album, this AI-generated version of the album as if it were performed instead by Johnny Cash. Incredible. tinyurl.com/zvkcj9xh

I lead an academic library team focused on research & engagement. Any of us would be glad to talk!
Friendly amendment: every worker. These insights apply across many fields.

Yes, while many films effectively disappear after the festival circuit, never available on physical media (and thus not available for libraries to preserve or check out), and sometimes only available for a short time, if at all, via streaming services.
A great opportunity for #MLIS students or any library worker who doesn't have institutional support to attend ALA Annual in Chicago. 📚 A 3-hour volunteer shift gets you free access to the conference!!

Minneapolis residents are facing a growing food crisis. Fear from ICE is keeping families—especially elders, parents, and the homebound from groceries.
Feed Minneapolis funds trusted local food shelves and kitchens, with a goal of feeding 10,000 people in 2 weeks.

Just saying, but when people are trying to do everything they can to prevent you from voting, that’s when you absolutely need to vote.
Ready to make this the biggest midterm turnout in history?

Hey #EResources #library pals! Did you know that the @erlconf.bsky.social opening AND closing keynotes are free to view by everyone, even if you're not able to attend the conference?
Check 'em out, and let me know if you're attending #ERL26 this year. I'll be watching the hashtag!

Many have already disappeared. As a librarian, I’ve seen many films effectively vanish after the festival circuit, or be removed from the streaming market, never released on DVD, and be completely unavailable to faculty, students, & researchers, as libraries are unable to acquire them either.
