Elphaba: โI hope youโre proud how you would grovel in submission to feed your own ambitionโ.
This is very much something that comes across from trans-exclusionary LGB individuals (Glinda). Showing their disdain publicly to the TQIA+ section of the community, to look good for right wing leaders.
Glinda: โyouโve hurt your cause forever, I hope you think youโre cleverโ.
Iโve seen multiple posts online from LGB individuals blaming the โextreme leftโ within the LGBT+ community for pushing the actions of the extreme right. (Victim blaming at its finest).
Glinda on the other hand. She represents the #LGB crowd. She sees the struggle, but she sees the power in following the Wizard and Morrible. (The wizard being a controversial and charismatic leader who has gathered a large amount of ill-informed followers- we know who this is).
Elphaba turns down an offer that would make her life dreams a reality. She stands up for the animals. She herself is not an animal but sees their struggle and their silence. Elphaba is like a gay/bi person who is not #trans but stands up for trans people.
Been thinking about #wicked. Particularly #defyinggravity and its relevance to current LGBT+ and the #LGB debate. Iโm going to start with Elphaba. A thread.

Who else is constantly angry just now? The world feels like itโs in flames, and things like genocide and ethnic cleansing are parts of stories and videos we just scroll past. Transphobia and homophobia are in every comment on just about any video, and anger towards immigrants seems to getting worse.
