We got a Costco membership for the first time in our lives today. They asked why & I said because treat your workers well, you value diversity, & you didn’t cave in to authoritarian demands. He said: “We’ve been getting lots of folks saying that, thanks for joining.”

Public libraries are amazing!
Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library?
Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?
I think about the reasons people fall for health grifting. I have an amazing rheumatologist who helps me jump over the hurdles and getting the best treatments. So few people even have a diagnosis, a treatment that works, a doctor willing to help them get it and insurance that will cover it.
Not just promotion-payment. The wealthy and those with insurance will have access.
>90% of unvaccinated individuals who come into contact with a measles-infected person will contract measles.
The recommended 2-dose MMR vaccine is 99% effective in preventing measles infection.

Today, along with 2,000 other NIH employees, I had to clear out my office 😭
It was truly the honor of my life to work with such incredibly passionate people focused on improving human health. I’ve never experienced a more positive culture where *everyone* cared about their job and serving others.
This is absolutely cruel. Most of these healthcare professionals work are short-term hires. This will decimate these services and increase the burden of student loan debt on these dedicated people.
Heartbreaking news… Tonight, many of our friends were let go, and tomorrow, even more will follow. Word is that all probationary employees at NPS will be let go. 😭
Individuals with immune disorders should consider masking in public places.
This is criminal and endangers lives.
25 years ago measles was declared eliminated in the United States due to the success of vaccination. In 2024, there were outbreaks in 33 states, 90% of which were in the unvaccinated.

The quickest way to a man’s heart is to insert a needle between the xiphoid process and left costal margin at a 15-to-30-degree angle, directed towards the left shoulder
Let’s take away car seats and seat belts too.
The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.
I once read about speed dating nights at public libraries for each person discussed their three favorite books and what they were currently reading. Might make for fun at an indie bookshop near you.
the history of syphilis is an international case of "those dirty shaggers over there"
As an ER doc, I thank you for being there.
At salaries well below those of the private sector. Outsourcing these positions to private firms is not efficient.
Typical move to please investors. But cutting services for vets is probably not a great strategic move.
This also includes *veterans*, including, I am told, at least some fully qualified wildland firefighters with actual fire experience.
Per a source with knowledge: “I want everyone to know that they are firing veterans, fully qualified and trying to serve their country again in civil service.”
We need to be clear that this includes recent hires who may be in mission critical positions such as the fire service.
Timeline cleanse.
We need to be clear that Trump and Musk are not reducing the size of the US government, or shrinking it.
They are destroying it.
This is good news as the rules used by health plans to deny care and their basis on medical evidence must be transparent if appeals are to be fair.
Since when has the word “women” become taboo?
I’m watching the Talking Heads’ movie, Stop Making Sense on a continuous loop.
I keep saying Dems need to do a daily briefing on Capitol Hill and fill the void, fact check the WH. Hire Pete Buttigeig and give him a staff to do this.
