The Bigfoot community is reeling from a new documentary that casts doubt on the most iconic footage of the legendary cryptid: 'It's like losing a friend.'

The cover of the March 26, 2026 Inlander Screen Section with the headline SXSWashington and the subhead Some of the very best films at this year's South by Southwest came from the Evergreen State with a still of AND HER BODY WAS NEVER FOUND in the center left with two people walking through the forest, a still from PHOENIX JONES: THE RISE AND FALL OF A REAL LIFE SUPERHERO in the top right with Ben Fodor dressed up as his character while standing in a warehouse, and a still from CAPTURING BIGFOOT of the moment in a now infamous tape where the creature looks back at the camera while walking through the woods.
Feel like I've finally fully come up for air from SXSW where some of the best films were born out of Washington. Thus, for @inlander.com, I wrote about five of them that, without tipping off too much, may soon be returning to the area 📽️

He of course has not seen the movie :)
In the 1960s, a shaky film shot in the wilderness helped launch the Bigfoot industry, enriching and then upending the lives of the men behind it. “Capturing Bigfoot” chronicles the fallout. on.wsj.com/4uhrKT4
CAPTURING BIGFOOT is a masterpiece from @marqevans.bsky.social. A look at the Patterson/Gimlin film it reveals not only the truth behind it, but the sad story of the people who fought to keep the story at a terrible cost. Evans again proves hes one of the best

In the movie The Diamond King, the picture below is shown - Dale Murphy, standing next to artist Dick Perez, being presented with a Perez portrait. I'd never seen the photo.
Probably for the best. 11-year-old me couldn’t have handled it - Two heroes, one picture.
NO KINGS except for Diamond Kings. I finally watched “The Diamond King” tonight—the documentary about artist Dick Perez. I knew I was going to like it. But holy moly I was not ready for this. I mean, the art is great. But I fell for the person. Phenomenal. Go watch it.
