I grew up mostly without TV, but even so, I knew the value of Public Broadcasting. On this dreary, stupid day when the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has been dissolved, I shout out some of its heroes — people who made us a little more conscious.
Swell to connect, Neil! Thanks for sharing some of your Saturday with me at the event.
NWMOCA Visit
Tomorrow I’m coming to the Northwest Museum of Cartoon Art for a talk and signing! 1-3 PM, Saturday, downtown Portland OR. Stop in and say hey, learn about comics process, see some giant-sized original art from Little Monarchs + other great display pieces at the museum! @nwmoca.bsky.social
So looking forward to visiting @NWMOCA this weekend — and the full roster of amazing comics creators coming to the museum! Just look at this:

Snacks
I had the best event last night at the Heller Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs. So many kind souls. I knew it was gonna be good when I saw the snack table.
Today I’m at library 21c at 11am, doing another event and signing.
Thank you to Heidi and the crew. It’s so beautiful here!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you! And yes on all counts.
Thanks! Yeah, it seemed to go over well.
Family portrait
Occasionally I do family portraits for people in a cartooned way — it’s a fun alternative to photography if you’re thinking of hiring someone for this kind of service. This is a crew from whom I bought our new old Land Cruiser (they happened to be art fans, so we worked a partial trade).
Thank you!
I got the same email today. Your work is beautiful — please keep making it!
NWMOCA
Yesterday I went to the soft opening for @nwmoca.bsky.social — officially opening tomorrow! It’s really something, you guys. Go check it out. Proud to be a small part of this for beautiful downtown Portland!

A chonker that belonged to my brother.
And to be clear, the potato kite will come down plenty of times before the end.
It takes a long time to write what’s valuable to me. Sometimes years of mess, like building a kite from potato peels. The peels can speak. They say: “You’re not a writer, my guy. Please stop.” Then comes a week where the wind catches my potato kite, and it’s in the sky, and I just have to hold on.
Thank you for the review!
