It was so much fun reading an anti-war satire at this No Kings virtual rally!
You can 1) watch it at www.youtube.com/live/lUJ21CF...
and 2) join in for the next No Kings event on May 1!

Still time to register this week. Mostly Milford-style workshop plus lecture/discussion and exercises, including writing violence/nonviolence and rephrasing to cut word count and make your writing more impactful. Alternating Wed 6-8 PT on Zoom.

Not too late to enroll in my #specfic workshop! #scifi, #fantasy, and #horror are fair game. I've studied w/ Hugo/Nebula winners & NYT bestsellers. Stories I've edited made years best anthologies. As an editor, I've learned to amplify the writer's voice. Zoom-based, so you don't need to be in SoCal!
When my diploma came for my MFA in Creative Writing, I thought it would be fun to record an intro for the NPR Politics Podcast where I opened the envelope. They decided to include it as their timestamp for Friday's episode:

The Le Guin novel mentioned is The Dispossessed? You mention teaching it recently, and I read it late last year - feels like I did the reading but missed out on your lecture, lol!
Here's my interview with Page Turners. If you live in St. Vincent and the Grenadines you will see it broadcast on IKTV. It's also up on YouTube:

My first hand-me-down, in college, ran DOS.
Ironically, Mom and stepdad were programmers & didn't want a computer at home - work-life-balance. So, even though I first learned to code on a TRS-80 (at school, 7th grade), it would be over a decade until I got to spend quality time with a computer.
Thank you! I'm happy and relieved the speech was so well received!
Last weekend was the culmination of years of work. I graduated from the #Stonecoast Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing program with concentrations in Popular Fiction and Scriptwriting. Honestly, one of the top transformative and memorable experiences of my life. So grateful for this opportunity.
Radicalized was the first thing I thought of when I heard about the shooting.

And the HarperCollins AI deal, even though it was opt-in, was still widely criticized.

I would think so, but the proposal talks about developing an interface to ingest 60k books. This sounds like a large bulk operation of blacklist titles rather than the accumulation of titles over time. And they say they have the publisher lined up and at least have signed an NDA.

You know what is more helpful than endless stories and hot takes about how we are all doomed and our rights are being stolen? Stories about what we can do about it, and what organizations we can join to strengthen the opposition. Just saying.
Please explain how this benefits authors. Reading through the proposal, it strikes me as an unnamed big-five publisher overstepping their license to create new products that will shut out creators from new revenue streams (i.e., resales with smart contracts can generate revenue in perpetuity).

I've been officially upgraded from Affiliate to Associate #SFWA Member. Now I'll be able to vote on the Nebulas!
I was a great participant in class. But I didn't do any homework. What was the point if I could ace the tests?
I have a friend who edits, usually higher ed related content. If you need another user to contribute.
Excited to present my first academic paper at a conference as a graduate student on Wednesday! "We are all Warmongers, We are all Pacifists" examining how violence and nonviolence is portrayed in fiction.
I've had the Filipino variety of salted duck eggs (shells are dyed red). I'd try that flavor of popcorn, but the "artificial flavor" gives me pause, lol!
Reminding me of the cars from the Chevron commercial's and Disneyland's Autopia.

Thanks, this feeds into the topic I want to explore in the next chapter of my thesis!

Jealous!
I remembered around 11:00 p.m. last night, and I started contemplating spoofing of foreign IP or something.
So many installations! Might lead to "System Collapse". 😉
