I only found out recently, but apparently that isn’t religious in origin!

The only time I’ve had to pray or say grace before a meal has been in the States, and it’s happened to me more times than I really feel comfortable with.

Yeah, he absolutely deserves it. Terrific player who, with a little bit more luck, should have more majors under his belt.

Oh boy, do I want Rose to do this! ⛳️ #TheMasters

This is very funny but not true. That 51% v 47% split was from 30 Jan. it’s held relatively steady in the last week or so.

Haha, definitely!

Yeah, I’ve definitely enjoyed the Mars seasons less. It sort of has the late GoT issue of, snap, and a character has miraculously got from Earth to Mars. But it’s still a superior drama.

Definitely the best of the season so far

Rewatching Lethal Weapon 4 and had forgotten the immigration storyline. At one point Murtaugh asks, “what happened to ‘Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free’?”

The brilliant Richard Richle replies, “Now it says, ‘we’re closed’.” Not much has changed in 28 years

City to beat Chelsea every time.

Watched it this afternoon. It’s emotional!

And a City victory over Chelsea tomorrow 🤞

Totally with you. There’s no merit to any City victory. Plus it’s nice that only Liverpool have been able to stop Pep’s City once he found his groove.

Ha, yeah that’s fair enough. I’m sure he won’t repeat 2011 😉

It was spectacular. The only downside is it feels over as a contest, and I’d love to see a repeat of the battle between Rory and Rose

It’s a screenshot of the Bluesky skeets in the Gift Links/Gift Articles feed. It shows one post from the Globe and Mail where the image didn’t work, and one from the NYT where it did. Sadly that means we have to look at a side profile shot of Donald Trump with his hair combed over and slicked back like a 60s Teddy Boy, only without an ounce of the style or cool

Yeah, from the gift links feed 30 mins ago, one worked and one didn’t.

Look it’s me in my favorite show. And again I must stress: I am NOT doing this show because of Jason. I was a fan before him.

Thrilled to be on my favorite show with people I genuinely love. Alex is there as well.

The alphabet and numerals 0-9 in the Artemis mission typeface

Just so you know what kind of dork I am: I was looking at the Artemis II mission stuff and said to @kaylahornbrook.bsky.social, “The cutaway in those letters in the bottom left corner definitely means something super specific…”

Passchendaele - GoodBooks YouTube video by ilovegoodbooks

Of all the bands that tried to break through in the post-Britpop wilderness of mid-2000s guitar bands, GoodBooks are the ones I am most disappointed did not make it. Hard to believe I watched them play Passchendaele live 20 years ago… youtu.be/n-5cApzDUXQ?...

336 - The 3.5 Percent Rule - Erica Chenoweth (rebroadcast) | You Are Not So Smart If you want to create a movement that can change the national status quo, you don't need half the country, you only need 3.5 percent of the population to join – but there are some caveats.

Really timely re-release of @davidmcraney.bsky.social’s brilliant You Are Not So Smart podcast with @chenoweth.bsky.social. #NoKings feels so close to 3.5%. Also makes the key point that the likes of the odious MTG opposing the US government really helps. Stoking division works both ways.

[Scene is a TV news DEBATE FORMAT like Newsnight or Laura K.
In the studio, NIGEL FARAGE is a guest on one side, and the GOVERNOR OF THE BANK OF ENGLAND is the other guest.]

1
FARAGE:
It's simply outrageous!

2
FARAGE:
Replacing Sir Winston Churchill on the £5 note with a badger is woke madness.

3
BANK OF ENGLAND GOVERNOR:
Mr Farage, I can assure you that I and my colleagues at the Bank of England have listened to your concerns,

4
GOVERNOR:
And we have gone to great length to ensure
that the badger is, in fact...

5
GOVERNOR:
...Anti-woke.

[The £5 note appears on the screen behind him. It shows a badger, with a black military cap on its head - looking suspiciously like a Nazi SS officer's cap.]

6
[Beat of Nigel Farage reacting silently to the image on screen]

7
FARAGE:
The badger is anti-woke.

8
GOVERNOR:
Indeed!
[Pointing at the design on the screen]
If you look down the bottom we've included a quote from him...

9
[Close up of the quote at the bottom of the new £5 note, which reads]:

"It's not racist to be concerned about immigration, Carol"
- The Anti-Woke Badger

10
FARAGE:
The badger... said that?

GOVERNOR:
It's a comment he posted on Facebook.

11
FARAGE:
Well he's quite right! It's not -

12
[Farage pauses again, distracted by the image on the screen]

13
FARAGE:
What's with the hat?

GOVERNOR:
He's into history.

[ends]
