The powderclaw gnolls are a matriarchal society and the armor was forged to compensate, taking advantage of the natural protective magics of adamantine to make up for the structural shortcomings of having individual breast planting.

Lore time: The adamantine half-plate of the powderclaws tribe is passed down from leader to leader, forged from a hunk of adamantine gifted to them by a nearby dwarf hold that they were allies with.
