Didn't sleep well all holiday - came home expecting to sleep better in my own bed. Marv had other ideas - half-hourly scritches and nuzzles.

Personally don't recommend these. As the article notes, these properties are typically achieved through PFAS, which can shed carcinogens in your home (which you then inhale) or come out in the wash (polluting waterways for decades). Will try to do a thread on how to treat stains in the wash.

What’s the point of being right?

Published writing is generally supposed to follow rules of ‘correct’ grammar and usage. These rules appear in style guides and other manuals, in the stern rebukes of English teachers, in the media diatribes of grammar pundits, and in the blood-red mark-ups of copy editors. But these sources never entirely agree on what all the rules are, and (as every pedant glumly knows) huge numbers of people ignore them. So how do readers really react to ‘common mistakes’? Are all those rules truly helpful if they don’t match the audience’s expectations – or can they waste our time and even lead us astray? And how can writers, editors and others do the right thing when it’s not so clear-cut what rightness is?

My #EnglishGrammarDay talk is "What's the point of being right?" Others are on: dictionaries & offensive language; HG Wells & the evolution of grammar; a curious case of adverb formation; the language of K-Pop fan communities; grammar in the school curriculum. Just £15!

kier starmer such a briefcase non entity that Iran didn't even bother to turn their AI slop machine on him. functionally kier starmer does not exist. he is a grey conduit for capital flows who vaguely remembers liking the wedding present once.

Imagine going to actual Space and they make you use Outlook

The contract with Msft should have allowed space lasers to be targeted at Msft leadership until they create working software.

"April Fools' Day" is cultural appropriation and we in the fool community, who live with our own foolishness all year round, do not appreciate being turned into a sanitised mainstream joke. I have worked hard to overcome popular prejudice and am proud to be the president's special adviser on Iran

Yknow its really interesting how people trying the whole death of the author argument to defend the wizardslop always cite long dead artists as examples. Its always “oh can you still enjoy Picasso?! Or Wagner??” Never can you still enjoy Neil Gaiman. Almost like They Know hmmmm

Is there a license that is basically creative commons for humans but if a commercial LLM uses it as training data you are legally entitled to shit in the bed of any employee or financier?

A note to my contractor design buddies. You can push those rates *right up*, the recruiters are fleecing the customers and you. No one deserves a margin of 40% for another persons labour.
