No, autocorrect, I don’t want to change “be an issue” to “bean issue”…unless I happen to be editing a recipe with specific legume requirements. 🫘 #AmEditing

Proofreading an index and not quite sure what’s going on? Why are things are out of alphabetical order? What’s the best way to cut for length?

Come to my EFA webinar to learn what non-indexers should know about indexes! Aug. 14.

Me: “Young lady, if you don’t stop that, I’ll have to close the window. You don’t want that to happen, do you?”

An illustration featuring 6 different species of birds native to Japan, all perched on plum blossom branches with light pink flowers. From top to bottom left to right, the birds featured are: brown-eared bulbul, Japanese tit, common kingfisher, warbling white-eye, rufous turtle dove, varied tit. They are illustrated on a light blue-purple background, with flower petals and feather motifs around them.

I honestly don’t eat a lot of seafood, but I *love* looking at the art on tinned seafood.

Sometimes I’m overwhelmed by the number of cool people who are doing cool stuff and sharing it online — visual artists, writers, comedians, musicians. I’m grateful to them all for putting goodness out into the world even when times are tough.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you don’t have to:
• “update your wardrobe” every season
• add accessories to “style” your outfits
• change your style to avoid looking “like a millennial”

These rules exist to sell you things you don’t need. If you like your clothes, wear them.

So weird that only one political party is expending this much time, energy, money and political captital to prevent as many people from voting as they possibly can - and ignore or nullify those votes if they feel like it. One would think this imbalance would dominate headlines. 🤷‍♀️

When we return from a trip, it’s interesting to see what the petsitter has been watching on our streaming services. Our last sitter favored true crime shows; the new one watched Harry Potter movies.

Shout-out to mental health professionals, parents, teachers, and anyone else who is taking care of others’ emotional needs right now in addition to their own. Y’all are doing some of the hardest work.

No, no, this is perfectly comprehensible behavior: everyone knows nighttime is the right time for the zoomiest zoomies.

At least three earthquakes have happened near Boston while I’ve lived here, and I’ve never felt one until today. It’s creepy, but TBH I’m glad I know what everyone is talking about this time. 🙃
